Your paper should have an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion (a minimum of three

paragraphs).

Margins should be 1 inch at the top, bottom, left, and right of every page. Do not justify

the right margin, instead leave it ragged by using left justify.

Entire paper should be double-spaced.

Use Times New Roman using font size of 12.

Type no more than 27 lines of text on each page (not counting the header at the top of the

page).

Make sure you use in-text citations for all direct quotes and summaries of information

you have recently read/researched. ANY and ALL borrowed information must be cited.

Example of an in text citation: Jones (2009) argues, “quote from reliable sources” (p. 45). OR

“Quote from reliable sources” (Jones, 2009, p. 45). OR In your writing it is important to quote

from sources that are reliable (Jones, 2009). The period should always come after the

parenthetical citation. For more details on APA citations, refer to the APA Manual 6th edition or

References

Basic format for articles in periodicals (such as academic journals):

Author, A. A., Author, B. B., & Author, C. C. (Year). Title of article. Title of Periodical, volume

number(issue number), pages.

Example:

Scruton, R. (1996). The eclipse of listening. The New Criterion, 15(30), 5-13.

Basic format for Books:

Author, A. A. (Year of publication). Title of work: Capital letter also for proper nouns and the

first letter in the first word after any colon. Location City and State/Country: Publisher.

Example:

Calfee, R. C., & Valencia, R. R. (1991). APA guide to preparing manuscripts for journal

publication. Washington, DC: American Psychological Association.

Basic format for an article from a website:

Author, A. A., & Author, B. B. (Date of publication). Title of article. Title of Journal, volume

number. Retrieved from http://www.journalhomepage.com/full/url/

Example:

Kenneth, I. A. (2000). A Buddhist response to the nature of human rights. Journal of Buddhist

Ethics,8. Retrieved from http://www.cac.psu.edu/jbe/twocont.html

(Note: The examples above show how your references should look. The examples were obtained

from the OWL at Purdue APA Formatting at Style Guide. The web address is listed in the

previous section. They should have ½ inch hanging indents and should be properly formatted

based on the reference type. Replace these examples with your own references and delete this

explanatory note before you submit your article for grading.)
