Procedure to reset the clutch linkage


Edition N°1. Mercedes-Benz Actros MP2 / MP3 with EPS / EAS (PN: 827497 – 827498)
After the replacement of the clutch on the here-above mentioned vehicles, its exact position cannot be
detected by the electronic software. This creates disturbances in the clutch linkage working which are
often considered as declutching problems. So, it is important to reset the new declutch and clutch
positions. This operation can be done as well on systems using clutch pedal (Electronic Power-Shift EPS)
as on those automatised (Electro Automatic Shifting EAS) without clutch pedal.

Reset method:
1. Ensure that:
 The parking brake is on,
 The engine is stopped,
 The air pressure is sufficient.

2. Declutch and stay in this position (except EAS).

3. Press the button on right side of the gear lever (neutral)


with the left hand and remain pressed continuously during all

the reset process.

4. Switch on the engine with the right hand.


 A long sound signal starts
 On the EPS screen (on the dashboard) the two arrows
flicker, each of them always two time in alternation.
 Around 3 seconds after the switch on, perception of an
movement on the gear lever. (The mechanical noise is not to
confuse with the gearbox noise)

5. Engage the clutch (except EAS).


 Perception of a slapping (noise)

6.Declutch (except EAS).


 Scrolling of gears on dashboard
 Slapping (noise) of electric controlled valves

7. The letter "N" (Neutral) of the EPS screen switches on


 The reset process is finished, the clutch pedal (except
EAS) and the button on right side of the gear lever
(neutral) can be released.
