Contour Drawing Guided Notes

Contour drawing involves outlining the exterior edges of objects with a connected line and no shading. There are two main types: blind contour, where the artist draws without looking at the paper to develop hand-eye coordination; and modified contour, where the artist looks at the object 90% of the time and the paper only when the pencil is not moving. To draw a contour line, begin at a focal point and follow the edge of the object with the eyes as the pencil traces a continuous flowing line without lifting from the paper.

● Begin with a focal point on the object and continue concentration as if
