Tanahu Hydropower PDF

The Tanahu Hydropower Project is a 127 MW run-of-river hydropower plant located on the Seti River in Nepal. It will have an installed capacity of 140 MW. The project involves constructing a dam, powerhouse, and 36 km transmission line. It is expected to generate 585.7 GWh annually and will cost $505 million to construct, funded through loans from ADB, JICA, and EIB and contributions from the Nepali government. Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-2017 and be completed by the end of 2021. The project will provide electricity to rural areas and economic benefits but will also displace over 500 people and require acquisition of over 100 hectares of private land.
