The constituency has predominantly elected members from the Indian National Congress and Telugu Desam Party, except in 2014 when it elected a member from the YSR Congress Party. It is part of the larger Nandyal Lok Sabha constituency. The constituency includes the mandals of Kallur, Orvakal, Panyam, and Gadivemula.
