1. List at least two reasons we should learn about the Holocaust?


● Study how human reacts during the darkest period in history
● Not repeat the mistakes of the past when people at young at grow up
2. What does the term “Holocaust” mean?
● Destruction or slaughter on a mass scale, especially caused by fire or nuclear war.
● It comes from a Greek word “holókauston” means “burn whole” or “sacrifice”

● Strong anti-Semitic tradition→ hatred of Jews
● Suffering and poverty of Depression
● Hitler wanted to create a perfect society of people in his own way and targeted those that
were seen to be inferior- Roma (Gypsies), the disabled, people of Slavic origin, Communists,
Socialists, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and homosexuals (based on political and ideological)
4. How many people died during the Holocaust
● Approximately 11 million people were killed
5. What other groups, besides the Jews, were the target of Nazi destruction?
● The other groups that were targeted by the Nazis were homosexuals, Jehovah's Witnesses,
disabled people, and Gypsies.
6. When was Anne Frank born?
● She was born in June 12, 1929
7. When and where did she die?
● She died in the March 1945
8. What does prejudice mean?
● Preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience.

● When: November 9-10, 1938
● Where: Germany, Austria, and areas of Sudetenland in Czechoslovakia
10. Why is it important?
● Turning point in Nazi anti-Jewish policy in the Holocaust
11. What does the term refer to?
● The word Holocaust comes from a Greek word “holókauston”, it refers to an animal
sacrifice offered to gods in which the whole group of animals is completely burnt or killed.
12. What was the name of the Nazi plan to eliminate all the Jewish people?
● “The Final Solution”
13. Define Euthanasia
● The painless killing of a patient suffering from an incurable and painful disease or in an
irreversible coma. The practice is illegal in most countries.
