Children’s Literature
1. Exceedingly=Extremely
Ex: Thank you. You’ve been exceedingly kind.

2. Nursery=a place where young children are taken care of during the day
while their parents are at work

Ex: I suggested a cycling holiday, and he seized on the idea.

and admiration for someone, especially on a formal occasion
Ex: Floral tributes (= flowers sent to someone's funeral)
Ex: The minister paid tribute to the men who had fought the blaze.

6. Flair= natural ability to do something well=talent, skill, ability


Ex: He has a flair for languages.

7. hit on or hit upon [hit on something] to discover something by chance


Ex: She was scared he might hit on the truth.
8. Levity=amusement or lack of seriousness,
Ex: I just want you to know the consequences of levity in this matter
Ex: She may not even want levity or jokes or funny movies or perhaps
even interaction with former friends

9. Diversion= the fact of something being sent somewhere different from


where it was originally intended to go=Changing Direction or taking
attention.
Ex: Shoplifters often work in pairs, with one creating a diversion to
distract the staff while the other steals the goods

10. Condemn=Criticize= to criticize something or someone strongly,

11. Absurdity=silliness=something that is stupid or unreasonable
