Scheme framed under regulation 6 (b)


of the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Practice) Regulations, 2014

The application under this scheme shall be submitted by an authority to the
Secretary, Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi.
________________________________________________________________________

A. Qualifying Criteria:

The following conditions shall be fulfilled by an applicant.


a) No pharmacy institution shall start Bachelor of Pharmacy (Practice) programme or
increase the number of admission without obtaining the prior approval of the
Pharmacy Council of India.

b) Bachelor of Pharmacy (Practice) course shall be permitted only in those


institutions which are approved by the Pharmacy Council of India for B.Pharm
course under section 12 of the Pharmacy Act, 1948.

B. Prerequisite mandatory documents to be submitted by an applicant -


i) Application in prescribed Standard Inspection Form – BP (SIF-BP) for
permission to start with an intake of 40 seats or extension of approval.
ii) The application shall be submitted between 1st August to 31st August (both
days inclusive) of the preceding year. However, for the academic session
2016-2017 only, the last date of receipt of application in Council’s prescribed
format SIF-BP is 29.2.2016.
iii) Consent of affiliation of the Examining Authority (University) in the
prescribed format. A copy of the format is annexed as Annexure-I (Bridge).
iv) Payment of fee in the form of Demand Draft in favour of The Secretary,
Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi, payable at Delhi as per following
details -
Fee Structure:
The following is the fee structure -
Details Amount
1. Starting of B.Pharm (Practice) course to be submitted 1,00,000
with the application.
2. Approval u/s 12 of the Pharmacy Act, 1948 including 1,00,000
fees for two inspections.
3. Verification of compliance, if any. 25,000
4. Annual affiliation fee after approval u/s 12 of the 50,000
Pharmacy Act, 1948.

C. Intake Capacity to Bachelor of Pharmacy (Practice) course:

The maximum number of students for B.Pharm(Practice) course who can be admitted
in any approved institution for training for the award of B.Pharm(Practice) degree by
the affiliating university shall be determined by the facilities available in the
institution in terms of infrastructure, teaching staff and teaching material. However,
in no circumstances more than 40 students in any institution shall be admitted in one
academic year.

D. Procedure:

a) Application complete in all respects, shall be submitted, in triplicate so as to


reach the office of the Pharmacy Council of India on or before the due date. The
application received after the due date shall be summarily rejected.
b) The application shall be submitted by the applicant either by courier, registered
post / speed post or in person to the office of Pharmacy Council of India, New
Delhi.
c) The Pharmacy Council of India will scrutinize the application in the first instance
in terms of the feasibility of starting the proposed course or increase in intake at
the said institution. While evaluating the application, the Council may -
i) seek clarification or additional information from the applicant as may be
deemed necessary .
ii) intimate deficiencies in the application giving time for rectification thereof.
The applicant is required to submit compliance with documentary evidence
within the specified time limit.
d) The physical inspection will be conducted by the Pharmacy Council of India u/s
16 of the Pharmacy Act, 1948 for verification of the facilities.
e) A copy of the Inspection Report will be forwarded by the Pharmacy Council of
India to the applicant for rectification of the deficiencies, if any, and submission
of compliance report with documentary evidence.
f) The Inspection Report will be placed in the Executive Committee / Central
Council of the Pharmacy Council of India and the decision arrived at will be
communicated to the applicant.
g) The decision of the Central Council shall be final. However, an applicant shall
be free to prefer a review request for consideration of the PCI.
h) Initially the Pharmacy Council of India will consider and grant approval for the
conduct of Ist year B.Pharm(Practice) course . The applicant shall apply to the
Council in the prescribed application form for approval of the B.Pharm(Practice)
course u/s 12 of Pharmacy Act, 1948 within the stipulated time period.

E. Application Procedure:
A candidate seeking admission to B.Pharm (Practice) course is required to submit
self attested copies of the following documents -
i) Pass certificate of D.Pharm course from an institution approved u/s 12 of the
Pharmacy Act, 1948.
ii) Valid Pharmacist Registration Certificate.
iii) Certificate of experience of pharmacy practice in a Community Pharmacy or
Hospital Pharmacy in the following prescribed format as applicable -
a) Format of certificate of practice experience in -Annexure-II (Bridge)
community pharmacy.
b) Format of certificate of practice experience in -Annexure-III (Bridge)
hospital pharmacy.
iv) A “No Objection Certificate” from the employer in the prescribed format. A
copy of the format is enclosed as Annexure-IV (Bridge).

F. Syllabus:

The course of study of B.Pharm (Practice) course shall be as prescribed under Appendix-
III of the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Practice) Regulations, 2014.
a) The course shall consist of class room teaching and assignment works.
b) The assignment works shall be done at the place of work under the supervision
and guidance of teaching staff of the academic institution.
c) The number of contact hours in a week devoted to each subject for class room
teaching shall be as prescribed under regulation 7 of the Bachelor of Pharmacy
(Practice) Regulations, 2014.
