Retreive Backup

To retrieve a backup VM in a BE, one must log into the ESXI host, browse the datastore to find the backed up VM files, add the VMX file to inventory under a new name, power off the original faulty VM, power on the new VM from backup, and confirm all services are running on the restored server.

Below are steps to retrieve a backup VM in a BE.

1. Login to ESXI
2.Click on IP of ESXI and then Click on summary
3. Right-Click on datastore1, then click on browse datastore1

4.Go to UC_Backup (Stored before)


5. Let’s restore a CUCM VM, so open a CUCM folder.

6. Choose the VMX file and then right click and then “Add to Inventory”
7. Choose the name of new VM , Let’s say “Test” . Then press Next.

8. Press Next
9.Click Finish
10. The VM will be added to inventory

11. Power off the Old Faulty VM.


12. Power on the New VM.
13. Confirm that all services are up on server.
14. Make your post checks.
