STUDY IT
I. It is possible to develop and train your born-again human spirit to use faith and to
hear God speak to you.
Brother Copeland was hungry to know more about faith and have faith
experiences.
o He studied with Oral Roberts and Kenneth E. Hagin.
o He had the opportunity to watch Brother Roberts use faith like a tool.
o He didn’t realize he already had faith, and he just needed to learn how to use
it.
Brother Copeland heard The LORD say to him, I want you to teach My people
faith.
That’s part of the original mandate of Kenneth Copeland Ministries—teach faith.
II. People look to the outside or check their feelings to find evidence of God’s WORD
working in their lives.
Spiritual things work from the root.
Jesus spoke to a fig tree (Mark 11:12-24). Sometime during the next 24 hours,
the tree dried up from the roots.
When Peter saw that the tree had dried up, Jesus answered him by saying, “Have
faith in God.”
Jesus was demonstrating to them and us, that as human beings created in the
image and likeness of God, we have the spiritual capability and capacity to do
what God did and still does.
III. When you are born again, your spirit man is reborn.
We are a new creation—in the spirit (2 Corinthians 5:17-18). Everything about
the new man is from God.
Jesus’ DNA was from God. The Holy Spirit hovered over Mary, and in her womb
was conceived the Holy One, Jesus (Luke 1:35).
In the same way, your DNA is of God. How? You said it with your mouth and
believed it in your heart (Romans 10:17), the Spirit of God hovered over you, and
inside was conceived a holy person.
Concentrate on the inner man in which the force of faith lives.
MAKE IT PERSONAL
Spend time thinking about God’s WORD. Meditate on what He said. Let the Holy Spirit
reveal to you, just like He does to Brother Copeland, the reality of God’s WORD. Start by
mediating on 2 Corinthians 5:17-18. Then go to Mark 11:22-24. God wants to talk to you
personally. Give Him your time every day, and listen! You will be changed.
STUDY IT
I. The believer has a voice, and it’s the voice of victory.
This is the victory, even our faith (1 John 5:4).
We are majoring on you—the inner man.
You are a spirit. Inside your spirit is your soul, your mind, will and emotions; and
you live inside a physical body.
Jesus told about the rich man who died. Even though he was in the place of the
dead, his mind, memories and emotions were active (Luke 16:22-25).
o The rich man recognized Abraham, whom he had never met in this life.
o Abraham told him, “Remember….” He still had his mind and his memories.
III. The heart is the core, the center, the life inside you.
The life of the body is in the blood. That makes your physical heart and its
functions very important.
When the Scripture talks about your heart, it means your inner man, your spirit
(Mark 11:22-24). You believe with your heart.
The heart is you.
You cannot live without your heart, neither the physical heart nor the spiritual
heart.
IV. The Bible is a spiritual book that will train you to grow up.
The inner man needs to be trained and grow up. Spiritual babies need help.
We should desire the milk and the meat of The WORD (1 Peter 2:2; Hebrews
5:13-14).
Part of the mission of Kenneth Copeland Ministries is to help the Body of Christ
move from spiritual milk to meat.
We live in a word environment. Death and life are in the power of the tongue
(Proverbs 18:21).
God’s Spirit will teach us.
To grow, we must meditate in God’s WORD. To meditate means “to mutter.” Talk
to yourself about The WORD you just read (Joshua 1:8).
o Brother Copeland learned the importance of meditating, allowing the Holy
Spirit to teach him when he read about Jesus and the multitude going to the
Temple in Jerusalem. Jesus didn’t follow the crowd to the religious center. He
turned aside from the group to go to the pool of Bethesda to heal a man
(John 5:1-2).
o God encouraged Joshua to lead the people and win battles by continually
meditating on His WORD.
MAKE IT PERSONAL
Make this declaration every day:
I believe God’s WORD is life to me. My spirit has been born again. I want to grow in the
things of God, so I choose to meditate day and night on His WORD. I expect my faith to
grow and develop as I seek God every day!
STUDY IT
I. We understand training the mind and body, and we must understand how to train
our spirits.
Spiritual laws govern the kingdom of God. We must be trained through The
WORD of God how to use our words to receive from The LORD (Mark 11:23-24).
The most important part of you is the real you. When you make Jesus The LORD
of your life, the real you is born again. You are completely re-created—you are
made righteous (2 Corinthians 5:21).
The real you is a spirit.
If you could step outside your body, people would still recognize you.
II. You can only understand how the Bible works by understanding the spirit, soul and
body, in that order (1 Thessalonians 5:23).
The laws of the spirit are unchangeable just like the laws of physics. In fact, the
laws of the spirit created the laws of physics.
Physical laws are mirror images of spiritual laws. They work when they are put
to work.
You need to know how to work spiritual laws.
God promises to give us victory (Mark 11:22-24).
The word whoever means anyone can believe and speak, then receive.
o The word therefore should be examined to see what it is connected to.
Therefore, whatever things you desire, immediately begin to pray, believe
you receive them, and you will have them.
III. The LORD encouraged Joshua in his assignment as leader of the children of Israel
(Joshua 1:5-9).
o The last time Joshua was in the Promised Land, there were giants and high-
walled cities. The devil was tempting Joshua to be afraid and to quit.
o God promised to stay with Joshua and cause him to win, all the days of his
life. The LORD said, “Be strong and courageous. I’ll not leave you nor forsake
you. Mediate on My WORD, not on the memory or the fear of the giants.”
We are not to mediate on the pain, the situation or the trouble. Only think about
and speak God’s WORD day and night.
o You are meditating on something all the time. You hear a word, and a picture
appears inside you.
o God’s WORD inside you will change the picture!
Keep your mind on The LORD, and you will prosper, have good success and deal
wisely to make God-based decisions, not money-based decisions.
IV. Jesus has provided a way for all of us to receive our desires.
Meditate on what God said (Mark 11:24). What is your desire?
Brother Copeland’s immediate desire was to have a pain-free body. His long-
term desire is to finish his course in the earth.
Jesus answered him, OK. Today, Brother Copeland has no pain in his body!
The revelation that God wants to give you what you desire built hope inside
Brother Copeland.
o God has provided faith, hope and love (1 Corinthians 13:13).
o Sometimes the reason we don’t receive is not weak faith, it’s weak hope.
o Without hope, faith has nothing to bring to pass—there’s no hope or only
weak hope. Hope deferred makes the heart sick (Proverbs 13:12).
Brother Copeland realized that Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law
that THE BLESSING of Abraham might come on the Gentiles (Galatians 3:13-14).
o THE BLESSING of Abraham is summed up in Deuteronomy 28.
o The more Brother Copeland read, the more excited he got. He meditated on
THE BLESSING of Abraham. That BLESSING made Abraham rich
(Genesis 13:2) and Isaac even richer (Genesis 26:13).
o Brother Copeland told Gloria they were rich, even though they didn’t have
any money at that time.
Hope concerns things in the future—faith is now!
V. Meditate and believe, and you will have it! See yourself with it!
By God’s Spirit, you can do anything.
The LORD told Brother Copeland to begin speaking on the radio. God did the
miraculous to make it happen.
o Brother Copeland argued with God about this big step, and then asked for a
“burning bush” sign. An immature Christian can get away with asking God for
a sign, but as you mature, you must receive what God says simply by faith.
o One of his friends gave Jimmy Swaggart some of Brother Kenneth’s tapes.
Brother Swaggart called him and said, “Why aren’t you on the radio?”
o God said, There’s your burning bush. What else do you want?
Brother Copeland makes a practice of meditating on God’s WORD.
o For example, Brother Copeland read that Jesus moved to the city of
Capernaum (Matthew 4:13-16). Every time he saw Capernaum in the
Scripture, he wrote in the margin “Home.”
o As Brother Copeland studied, he became more aware of each time he read
the word Capernaum.
o As a result, The LORD gave him many revelations about Capernaum and the
healings and miracles that happened there.
Mediating on God’s WORD will open your eyes and your faith to know and
understand more of God.
MAKE IT PERSONAL
Write down your desires, hopes and dreams. Find scriptures that give you confidence of
God’s desire to answer. Meditate God’s promises that pertain to your requests. Put the date
when each has been accomplished.

Prayer: Thank You, LORD, that as I meditate on Your WORD, like Joshua, I will develop and
train my born-again human spirit to receive all that You have for me. Thank You, Sir! In Jesus’
Name. Amen.
STUDY IT
I. Educate and train your spirit man, and you will see results.
You are a spirit. You have a soul, the intellectual part of you, and you live in a
physical body.
The rich man in hell saw Lazarus in Abraham’s bosom. He recognized Abraham,
even though they had not met in this life (Luke 16:22-25).
Heaven is far more alive than our life on earth.
II. The first step to develop your spirit begins with meditating God’s WORD.
Think about the scriptures and meditate them, especially the ones that pertain to
what you’re dealing with. Your spirit will begin to expand, because God is living
in you.
Rufus Mosely, a preacher in the early 1900s lay prostrate on his face before God
praying, weeping and crying. Finally, he stopped and said, “Here lies a fool who
knows nothing, doing all the talking to One who knows everything.”
o We should remember to listen to God, who has all the answers, more than we
talk.
When you begin to meditate God’s WORD, you stop talking, and let God expand
your thinking. The answer is not coming out of your mind, it’s in your spirit.
The more you meditate, the more active your spirit becomes in that area.
o There came a time that she committed her dream to The LORD. She said, “If
You don’t want us to build this house, we’ll lay down all our plans and not
mention it again.”
o At the instruction of The LORD, Brother Copeland ministered the house to
her, and she was so excited because he used the same scriptures she had
been standing on since the beginning for the house.
o The day they poured the foundation, the money was in the bank for the
whole project!
IV. Meditating on God’s WORD will expand your spirit and build your hope.
When praying for family situations that look impossible, don’t meditate on the
impossibility of them.
o Look up family Scripture promises and meditate on them.
o If and when Brother Copeland’s children did things he and Gloria didn’t
approve of, they didn’t fuss. They had already meditated on God’s plan for
their children, and that’s what they continued to believe and speak.
o They are not afraid of what the devil might do to their children, because their
hearts are established, trusting in God.
That peace and confidence came by meditating the Scriptures. Lean not to your
own understanding, but trust God with all your heart (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Don’t ever blame God and don’t be double-minded (James 1:6-8).
During a storm, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, don’t You care?” Don’t do that!
Meditate on God’s WORD all the time, so you don’t get blindsided by what the
devil is trying to do.
V. God will have prepared everything before you step into His plan.
Joshua sent two spies into Jericho, and there they met Rahab (Joshua 2:8-11).
o Rahab said, “All of us in Jericho know The LORD has given you the land.”
o They had heard about the Red Sea opening (Exodus 14:21-22), and the defeat
of King Sihon and King Og, enemies of the Jews (Numbers 21:33-34).
o The people of Jericho lost their courage and were afraid of the children of
Israel.
Meditate on God’s plan before you begin. If you meditate on the hard part, that’s
what you’ll get—the hard part. It will choke off your spirit.
The children of Israel kept saying they would die in the wilderness. God had to
let them die, because they kept saying it (Numbers 14:2).
Junk in your mind and your mouth will stop your spirit from getting the victory.
Brother Copeland changed his spirit, mind and words to enjoy the task of taping
daily television programs for the ministry and participating in the things that are
good for him, like physical exercise. He has the victory!
MAKE IT PERSONAL
Prayer of faith:
Father, Your WORD promises me success and victory as I meditate on it, and develop
and train my human spirit. I want to be like You, I want to please You, and I want to
rejoice over every challenge, knowing You are with me, and together we win! Thank
You! In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
STUDY IT
I. The born-again human spirit needs to be trained and educated, and the mind needs
to be renewed.
It’s your inner man, your spirit being, that is born again to make you a new
creation (2 Corinthians 5:17-18).
You are not just forgiven; your spirit is actually born again. The spirit of a man is
the candle of The LORD (Proverbs 20:27).
“Born again” is not just a religious expression. It literally means born of the
Spirit. Jesus said what is born of the flesh is flesh and what is born of the Spirit is
spirit (John 3:6).
The spirit man is born again; not your mind nor your body.
II. You can see things in the spirit that you can’t see with your mind.
Your mind can’t see things that are not seen (Hebrews 11:1).
Doubting Thomas said, “I will not believe unless I see” (John 20:25).
The spirit of faith is to believe and then speak (2 Corinthians 4:13-18).
Jesus told us how to use faith. We must believe in our hearts and then say what
we desire (Mark 11:23).
Start believing the moment you pray. Don’t wait until things are already
changed; that’s not faith.
III. Meditation in The WORD of God is the first step to the development and training of
the human spirit.
The inner man will be renewed day by day if you develop and train it.
God told Joshua to meditate the Scriptures day and night, and he would “see”
what to do.
IV. The second step to train your born-again human spirit is to be a doer of God’s
WORD (James 1:22-25).
You have to make certain commitments and decisions concerning the written
WORD of God. Faith comes by hearing The WORD of God (Romans 10:17).
This WORD is the perfect law of liberty. It will make you free!
People read the Bible, study the Bible, and even memorize the Bible, but they
don’t make a decision to act on what it says.
Why do some people have results and some don’t?
o You must make a decision to act like the Bible is true. If you don’t, you’re
deceiving yourself.
o Even though you read and study, if you don’t apply God’s WORD, you won’t
have what it says you should have.
Distinguish between what are facts and what is truth.
o The symptoms of sickness and disease are facts, not the truth. The truth is,
“By Jesus’ stripes, I am healed” (1 Peter 2:24).
o Meditate on the truth, and the facts will change.
Keep God’s WORD in your eyes and heart (Proverbs 4:20-22). Spend time daily
meditating on the truth.
Meditate The WORD, and become a doer of The WORD.
