As a learner-centered institution, Lingig National High School strives for

continuous improvement to better serve the stakeholders. Thus one of its


programs to fulfill the mission in providing the students a child-friendly, gender-
sensitive, safe, and motivating environment is the implementation of National
Drug Education Program (NDEP) whereby Barkada Kontra Droga is
functionalized.

Orientation and launching of Barkada Kontra Droga in school was done


last July 2018 during the Club Organization Day whereupon NDEP Coordinators
and Technical Working Group (TWG) were identified and roles were explained.
On June 7, 2019- during the annual Club Day, BAADS (Buddies Against Alcohol,
Drugs and Smoking) was formally organized and launched.

During the meeting, action plan was formulated leading to the conduct of
the following planned activities:

1. Symposium on Drug Awareness

*March 2017 conducted by PDEA during the SOSA 2017

* March 18, 2018 conducted by PDEA Agents: Mr. BENIE S. TOLEDO


and Mr. PAUL S. ESTALANI

* October 16, 2018 – conducted by PNP Lingig

2. Barangay and Municipality-wide Advocacy Campaign


initiated by BKD through the supervision of NDEP Coordinator then-
Mr. TRISTAN REY A. VILLAR.

3. Community-extension services through collecting of cigarette butts


spearheaded by BKD Officers and members.

4. Film-showing/ Movie-marathon of Drug-related films last October


18, 2018 as one of its income-generating project.
To fully mobilize the BKD officers and members, the following
activities were initiated:
*Fun-Run
* Zumba- a weekly fitness activity done every Friday and during the
opening of Brigada Eskwela.
*Integration of Drug and Alcohol issues in the Career Guidance Fil-
making contest.
*Song/Yell Contest
*Painting Contest
*Income-generating projects like Film-showing activity and Talent
Show for a Cause dubbed as “Night of Songs” in cooperation with the
SSG.

BKD does not only functions in providing extracurricular activities to


students but also in helping the students’ academic performance as partner of
Teachers. Hence, their functionality was tested as they involved themselves in
Home Visitations to SARDOs or Students at Risk of Dropping Out.

Counselling services were done by the Guidance Counsellor through which


BKD Officers were tapped as buddies.

Not only did the club conduct information drive school-wide by room to
room campaign and having an NDEP Corner in each classroom, but they also
extended their Advocacy campaign services to the community particularly
Barangay Poblacion and Barangay Sabang. This is to reach out not only school-
children but also the Out-of-school-youth.

One way of molding students’ character is to rekindle their relationship


with God, hence Recollection is annually done.

To help equip students with their responsibilities and corresponding


accountabilities, BKD partnered again with SSG in the conduct Leadership
Training.
Teachers also have their fair share in the promoting the BKD advocacy by
integrating in their learning plan across the various discipline as reflected in
their Daily Lesson Log.

Knowing that to educate a child is a shared responsibility, Stakeholders


like Administrators, PTA, Religious Groups through Moral Recovery Seminar,
and Non-Government organizations were tapped to support the
implementation of drug campaign.

Barangay Officials and Municipal PNP Personnel work hand in hand as well
with the school to reinforce the BKD advocacy through observance of Curfew
and strict implementation of RA 9165 or Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 where
Leaflets of IEC on drugs were given to the community.

With that being manifested collaboratively, monitoring and evaluation is


routinely done in every activity to ensure that Lingig National is not just a drug-
free haven of learning but also a child-friendly school. Because in Lingig National
High School, Administrators, Teachers, and the BKD Club protect and promote
the right of every learner as it delivers basic education where “Excellence is the
Norm”.
