CS504 GDB 1 Solution Idea Spring 2019

The document discusses that multi-level data flow models should not be included in the Software Requirements Specification (SRS) document because the SRS describes what the system will do at a high level, not the internal design. While the SRS defines functional and non-functional requirements, data flow models show the internal design and are therefore more appropriate for the design document rather than the SRS.

CS504 GDB 1 Solution Idea Spring 2019

Multi-Level data flow models cannot be incorporated partially or fully in the SRS document
because SRS is a document that describes the system that should be developed and implemented.
SRS is a document that describes what the software will do and how it will be expected to
perform. The best SRS documents define how the software will interact when embedded in
hardware or when connected to other software.
When we talked about SRS, it contains basics of project like introduction, functional & non-
functional requirements. Multi-level data flow models are not included in SRS requirements. So
multi-level flow models should not be a part of SRS.
However, it should be in design document, where we tell about the design patterns of project like
data flow diagram and entity relationship diagram. Therefore, we have multi-level data flow
models in design document instead of SRS.
