ABSTRACT

The Laboratory High School (LHS) as one of the units comprising DHVTSU
continuously aspire to do its best towards quality and excellence in the acquisition of knowledge
and skills, in instilling positive values in the students entrusted in its care and ultimately
contributing towards the attainment of the University’s mission and vision.

For the Year 2017, the LHS achieved these humble accomplishments:

 General Assembly of Grade 10 parents was held last January 20, 2017 and was
attended by a total of 129 parents of grade 10 students;
 Attendance to the 150th Aldo ning Kebaitan ng Juan Cisostomo Soto;
 Administering of the National Career Assessment Examination (NCAE) to Grade
9 students. Two (2) faculty acted as room examiners, coordinator and room
supervisor respectively) on March 1-2, 2017, San Vicente Pilot School for
Philippine Craftsmen, Bulaon, City of San \Fernando, Pampanga
 Hosting of the birth anniversary of Don Honorio Ventura at the DHVTSU-
Administration Lobby on August 1, 2017
 Sponsored the celebration of Buwan ng Wika, August 29, 2017 LHS Lobby,
DHVTSU, Bacolor, Pampanga
 Sponsored the Disaster Preparedness Campaign at the University Gymnasium
last September 14, 2017.
 Hosting of the Miss United Nations last October 24, 2017 at the University
Gymnasium
 Regular Participation in most activities of the University such as Zumbathon,
Intramural, University Week celebration and the like
 Regular participation on seminars and trainings sponsored by the university.
 Acquired some donations from the LHS-PTA, University Supreme Student

YEAR 2017
INSTRUCTION
1. On January 20, 2017 the General Assembly for parents of grade 10 students was held at the
University Hostel. The Principal together with the grade 10 advisers, PTA Officers and 129
grade 10 parents attended the event with the following agenda: Updates on Senior High School
Program and Completion Ceremony.

2. The newly elected LHS-PTA Officers A.Y. 2017-2018 during the Oath Taking Ceremony.

3. Prof. Anita G. Sibug and the Social Science Club with Ms. Paulita Antoniett D. Galang as
adviser attended the 150th Aldo ning Kebaitan ng Juan Crisostomo Soto last January 27, 2017 at
the Crissot Monument, infront of the Public Market, Bacolor, Pampanga.

4. The launching of the book of Mr. Abel Soto entitled “Bini” was held on January 27, 2017 at
the DHVTSU Hostel. It was attended by the Principal, the Social Science Club Officers and Mr.
Rodel T. Alimurong as the emcee.

5. The Visual Arts Club hosted the Fashion Runway 2017 last January 30, 2017 at the LHS
lobby. It showcased fashion creations using recycled materials, indigenous materials and formal
attire by arts students and dressmaking students under the guidance of Mrs. Ma. Theresa R.
Canivel and Ms. Jennifer S. Baluyut.

6. In line with the government’s anti-illegal drugs campaign, the Grades 8 and 9 class officers
attended the Anti-Dangerous Drugs Seminar held on February 3, 2017 at the University Food
Center.

7. The Battle of the Champions was held last February 6, 2017 at the LHS Lobby. This is the
final installment for the Battle of the Sections, wherein the winners from all the 1 st Monday
Programs compete.

8. Nineteen (19) Grade 10 students under the Sheet Metal shop specialization passed the
National Certificate I for Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) held on February 15-16, 2017
with Mr. Genesis G. Sibug as their instructor/trainer.

9. The LaHSSO and Social Science Club Officers together with their advisers, Mrs. Sofia Luz
M. Manaois and Ms. Paulita Antoniett D. Galang and the Principal, Prof. Anita G. Sibug joined
the commemoration of “ALDO NANG FELIX GALURA y NAPAO” on the occasion of the
151st birth anniversary of the Father of Campampangan grammar held on February 21, 2017 at
the Felix Galura Monument, Bacolor, Pampanga.

10. Mrs. Ma. Theresa R. Canivel accompanied/coached Zofie Nataño of 10-Newton and bagged
the 3rd place in the 2017 Civil Registrar’s Month Poster Making Contest sponsored by the Civil
Registrars’ League of Pampanga (CRELPA) held last February 22, 2017 at the Philippine
Statistics Authority, Maimpis, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.

11. The National Career Assessment Examination (NCAE) for grade 9 students was
administered on March 1-2, 2017. The following faculty served as Room Examiners, Testing

12. In celebration of the Fire Prevention Month 2017, the Fire Protection Office of Bacolor,
Pampanga sponsored a poster making contest last March 3, 2017. Zofie Nataño of 10-Newton
won the 2nd place in the junior category. She was accompanied/coached by Mrs. Ma. Theresa R.
Canivel.

13. Thirty-Two (32) grade 10 students under the Food Trades shop specialization passed the
National Certificate II in Food Processing last March 4,5 and 18, 2017 with Mrs. Medalma R.
Lazaro as the instructor/trainer.

14. Thirty-Two (32) Grade 10 students under Ms. Jennifer S. Baluyut passed the National
Certificate II in Dressmaking last March 13-17, 2017.

15. Thirty-Five (35) Grade 10 students under the Cosmetology shop specialization passed the
National Certificate II for Beauty Care (Nail) held on March 15-16, 2017 with Mrs. Nova H.
Nicdao as their instructor/trainer.

16. The grade ten students together with their teachers attended the Juniors’ Ball which was
successfully held on March 22, 2017 at the University Gymnasium.

17. Being one of the awardees for having served 40 years of dedicated and exemplary service to
the University, Prof. Anita G. Sibug attended the University Honors and Recognition Day held
last April 5, 2017 at the University Gymnasium

18. The grade 10 completion ceremony was held on April 5, 2017, 1:00 p.m. at the University
Hostel. Two Hundred Forty-Six grade ten completers received their completion certificates.

19. The Laboratory High School attended the graduation ceremony for the graduate and
education department last April 6, 2017 at the Laus Group Event Centre, City of San Fernando,
Pampanga.

20. Grade 7 applicants for School Year 2017-2018 were screened through entrance examination
and interview on April 8-22, 2017. A total of 464 applicants were screened by Prof. Anita Sibug,
Mr. Rodel Alimurong, Mrs. Kristine E. Manalastas and Dr. Paulita Antoniett D. Galang.

21. Dr. Criselda G. Nicdao prepared the Academic/Shop Instructors’, Class and Room Programs
from April 3, 2017 to May 5, 2017.

22. Enrolment for the Laboratory High School was held on May 8-26, 2017. A total of 675
students from grade 7 to 10 were officially enrolled. Mrs. Medalma R. Lazaro, Mrs. Edna T.
Galang, Mrs. Nova H. Nicdao, Ms. Jennifer S. Baluyut and Dr. Paulita Antoniett D. Galang
served during the enrolment period.

23. On May 24, 2017, Mr. Christian Matic of the Department of Education, Division Office gave
an orientation seminar on the Learners’ Information System (LIS) at the Laboratory High School
Room 5.

24. In preparation for the opening of the school year, the principal initiated the cleaning and
beautification of the LHS building and its respective classrooms/homerooms one week before the
opening of school year 2017-2018.

25. Classes formally opened on June 5, 2017, followed by an orientation conducted by the class
advisers on June 16, 2017 and an election of class officers for each class organization on June
20, 2017. The oath taking ceremony was held on June 22, 2017.

26. Ms. Paulita Antoniett D. Galang attended the seminar entitled “ Policies and Programs on
Extension Services” at the University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City last June 14,
2017.

27. LHS Faculty attended the Research Mentoring Seminar at the University Executive Lounge
on June 29, 2017.

28. On June 29-30, Mr. Jan Hernry B. Sunga and Mrs. Ma. Theresa R. Canivel attended a
symposium entitled "Planting Seeds the Future of Philippine Cinema at the Heros Hall, City of
San Fernando, Pampanga Pampanga in partnership with the Film Development Council of the
Philippines(FDCP).

29. The Laboratory High School hosted the 1st Friday Mass held on July 7, 2017 at the
University Administration Building.

30. The LHS-PTA under the leadership of Mr. Henry G. Perez initiated the project “free potable
drinking water”. Two (2) water dispensers were placed at the LHS lobby which started last July
18, 2017.

31. The 130th Birth Anniversary of Don Honorio which was organized by the Social Science
Club was held at the DHVTSU Admin. Lobby on August 1, 2017. It was commemorated with
the staging of the play “Galura, Soto and Ventura”. A literary piece written by Dr. Arsenio M.
Escalona and Mr. Nestor R. Galura. LHS Faculty performed the following roles i.e., Mr. Plato B.
Mercado as Sito Ventura, Mr. Rodel Alimurong as Felix Galura, Mr. Jan Henry B. Sunga as Juan
Crisostomo Soto, Mrs. Kristine E. Manalastas as Lady Vi and Ms. Paulita Antoniett D. Galang as
the narrator.

32. The Buwan Ng Wika was celebrated by the LHS on August 29, 2017

43. The Grade 10 Newton Makatapak Festival Dancers were invited to present the opening salvo
for the National Conference of the Department of Justice held at the Royce Hotel last December
04, 2017.

44. The Laboratory High School participated in the University Days celebration last December
12-15, 2017.

Unity Parade was headed by Mr. Jan Henry B. Sunga and participated by the Grade 7 and 8
students.

Selected Grade 9 students participated in the Cheer Dance Competition and was headed by Mr.
Emmanuel R. Perez

Selected Grade 8 students participated in the Honorians’ Dance Crew Contest ( Hip Hop
Competition and headed by Mr. Plato B. Mercado as coach. They won the second runner up
trophy.

The Grade 10 Newton participated in the Mass Demonstration – Wellness Competition and won
second runner up. Mr. Plato B. Mercado acted as coach.

45. Teachers attended the seminar entitled “ The Teacher as a Life Builder” held at the
university hostel last December 13, 2017

B. FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

To grow professionally and to keep abreast with fast changing times, all of the
Laboratory High School faculty members attended seminars and conferences and pursue
graduate and post graduate here at the University.

The following have pursued/completed masteral and doctoral degrees respectively:

Mrs. Anita G. Sibug completed all academic subjects towards the degree of Doctor of
Education.

Education major in TLE.

Ms. Kristine E. Manalastas completed academic requirements for the degree Doctor of

Ms. Sofia Luz M. Manaois earned her 18 units under the degree Master Arts in Public
Administration.

Mr. Plato B. Mercado earned his diploma under the degree Master Arts in Teaching
Science on November 22, 2017.
