Theor Mechanics Summer Sem Engineering Physics

This syllabus outlines a theoretical mechanics course for engineering physics bachelor students. The course aims to provide an understanding of classical mechanics and prepare students to study quantum mechanics, electromagnetism, and optics. It will cover Lagrangian and Hamiltonian mechanics, including Lagrange's equations, conservation laws, central force motion, oscillations, and Hamilton's equations. Students will gain knowledge and skills in advanced classical mechanics through lectures, seminars, and problem solving exercises over 30 hours each, earning 5 ECTS credits upon completion. The primary textbook is Landau and Lifshitz's Mechanics and Feynman's Lectures in Physics.
