RELATED LITERATURE

According to the article “The Journey to Employment” (JET)

framework by John Copps and Dawn Plimmer, there were seven factors

that can impact a young person’s journey to work in achieving a

successful job. These are personal circumstances, emotional

capabilities, attitudes, employability skills, qualifications,

education and training, experience and involvement and career

management skills. However, some individual young people may need

support with all or none of these. According to them everyone’s

journey is different and there is not any single factor that

guarantees success in the labor market. The authors want to provides

the outcomes and tools to measure what happens on young people’s

journey to employment. It is like developing a questionnaire and

measurement that will help the researchers to evaluate the survey they

give to the respondents.

RELATED STUDIES

The research “Graduate’s Employability: A Tracer Study for Bachelor of

Science in Hotel Management and Restaurant Management” from 2005 –

2009 of Lyceum of the Philippines, answered the profile of the HRM

graduates in terms of job position and the employment in terms of job

encountered by the HRM graduates. Based from the findings of the

study, majority of the respondents were employed compared to those

graduates who were unemployed or never employed. Majority of the HRM

graduates are contractual and temporary and some are self-employed.

Majority of the respondents are all professionals, followed by being


clerks, the least present occupation of the respondents is a special

occupation. The responses showed that entrepreneurship skills rank

number 1, followed by human relation skills and the problem solving

had the lowest responses. This study may connect to the present study

in terms of the employment standing or status of the graduates. It

also focuses on the skills and job positions that are the factors in

employing a job.
