Job Profile Summary

BP Indonesia is looking for Experienced Data Scientist to support digital transformation projects in Tangguh,
West Papua. Your role will be supporting Tangguh operations team to develop digitalization and machine-
learning projects to support LNG refining, reliability engineering, and petroleum engineering activities in
Tangguh LNG plant.

You will be dealing with time series sensors data, large unstructured and structured datasets, and object
model programing. The team will use data science techniques, statistical methods, and Python toolkits to
develop tools for predictive maintenance, inventory optimization, modernizing LNG plants alarming
system, forecasting and modelling process engineering upsets, and also developing object-oriented
programming in Tangguh.

You are required to work as part of a team supporting Engineering Team in Jakarta and Operations Team
in Tangguh. You will be supported with BP data science expert team around the globe to support the
projects deployment, however you are expected to deliver creative solutions independently.

Requirement
Undergraduate degree in STEM (eg. computer science, physics, mathematics,
electrical/mechanical/chemical/petroleum or other engineering) with strong academic record. This
application is open for Indonesian nationals only.

You will have experience of


• 5 years as data scientist in reputable companies.
• Undertaking complex empirical analysis, working with large disparate data sets, and producing actionable
insights.
• Applying data science methods to business problems. To include knowledge of regression (OLS, Lasso,
Random Forest, and Logistic Regression), time series forecasting (ARIMA or LSTM), natural language
processing, and classification (supervised learning) analysis. Knowledge of deep learning and optimization
is a huge plus.
• Understanding data engineering skills; querying, combining, and transforming different datasets.
• Object orientated Python programming, including knowledge of pandas, numpy, Jupyter, sci-kit learn and
sci-py. Ability to write high quality, robust, performant pythonic code.

Key Skills Required


• Fluency in Python and SQL is a must.
• Knowledge of the energy industry and hydrocarbon processing is a plus.
• Quantitative skills, for example advanced statistics, probability theory or optimization.
• Creative/innovative thinking.
