LITERATURE SURVEY.

1. PROSPECTS OF PRYLOSIS OIL FROM PLASTIC WASTE AS FUEL FOR

DIESEL ENGINE

V.L.MANGESH*

An existingliterature focuses on the study of chemical structure of the waste plastic pyrolysis
comparedwith diesel oil. Converting waste plastics into fuel oil by different catalysts in
catalytic
pyrolysis process also reviewed in this paper. The methodology with subsequent hydro
treating and hydrocracking of waste plastic pyrolysis oil can reduce unsaturated
hydrocarbon bonds which would improve the combustion performance in diesel engines as
an alternate fuel.

Catalytic pyrolysis with subsequent Hydro treating and

hydro cracking can reduce unsaturated hydrocarbon bonds and thereby improve combustion
performance in diesel engines. A literature review of the works in the field of waste plastic
pyrolysis oil
as fuel for diesel engines is conducted and the results of the review has been presented in this
paper.
Catalytic pyrolysis has been found by researchers as a better process than thermal pyrolysis
with only

2.Catalytic Pyrolysis of Waste Plastic Mixture

Ferdianta Sembiring.*

By pyrolysis, plastic waste can be treated to produce liquid fuels, flammable gas
and chars. Reduction in volume and utilization of the liquid and gas as fuel are the major
benefits of the process. By heat integration actually this process can become a self-sufficient
system in terms of energy demand. However, the drawback of this process is usually due to
the diverse type of plastic in the MSW creating low grade of liquid fuel and harmful gases. In
this study, the mixture of plastics i.e. polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene terephthalate
(PET) is treated using pyrolysis with catalyst in several operating temperature. PET is
problematic to be treated using pyrolysis due to wax-like byproduct in liquid which may
cause pipe clogging. The catalyst is the mixture of natural zeolite and bentonite which is able
to handle PP and PET mixture feed to produce high grade liquid fuels in terms of calorific
value and other fuel properties

In this study, the best temperature to produce the highest quantity liquid oils without catalyst is the
highest temperature (500 oC), while using catalyst is the opposite. By using the catalyst, the amount of
C3-C10 compound is increase which leads to the increasing of oil calorific value. PET is the type of
plastic that is unsuitable to be treated with pyrolysis, but by mixing PET with PP as raw materials and
using proper catalyst the problem can be minimized. Based on this study the lowest content of PET
(10%) can give optimum results in terms of oil production and the heating value.

3. Pyrolysis of plastic waste for liquid fuel production as

prospective energy resource

S D A Sharuddin*

This paper reviewed the thermal and catalytic degradation of plastics through pyrolysis
process and the key factors that affected the final end product, for instance, oil, gaseous and
char. Additionally, the liquid fuel properties and a discussion on several perspectives
regarding the optimization of the liquid oil yield for every plastic were also included in this
paper.

The pyrolysis could be done in both thermal and catalytic process. However, the catalytic
process provided lower operating temperature with greater yield of liquid oil for most plastics
with the right catalyst selection. The sustainability of the process is unquestionable since the
amount of plastic wastes available in every country is reaching millions of tons. With the
pyrolysis method, the waste management becomes more efficient, less capacity of landfill
needed, less pollution and also cost effective. Moreover, with the existence of pyrolysis
method to decompose plastic into valuable energy fuel, the dependence on fossil fuel as the
non-renewable energy can be reduced and this solves the rise in energy demand.

4. Plastic Waste Into Fuel Using Pyrolysis Process.

Mantesh Basappa Khot*

In this study, plastic wastes (low density polyethylene) were used for the pyrolysis to get fuel
oil that has the same physical properties as the fuels like petrol, diesel etc. Pyrolysis runs
without oxygen and in high temperature of about 300°C. The waste plastics are subjected to
pyrolysis to obtain different value added fuels such as petrol, kerosene, and diesel, etc.
Converting waste plastics into fuel hold great promise for both the environmental and
economic scenarios. Thus, the process of converting plastics to fuel has now turned the
problems into an opportunity to make wealth from waste

The transformation about these waste plastic under fuel serves us will spare the sea marine an
aggregation. The oil that has been generated by the LDPE plastic by prescribed experimental
process shows that the properties are very much comparable to the petrol. Ultimately,
pyrolysis of LDPE does not only recover the energy contained in the plastic, but also manage
the environment by alternate disposal technique of the waste plastic. This double beneficiary,
if will exist just Concerning illustration long Likewise the waste plastics last, in any case will
definitely gatherings give a solid stage to us with expand on a sustainable, clean and green
future. By taking under record the budgetary profits of such An project, it might a chance to
be an incredible help will our economy.
Key Words: Low density plastic waste, waste plastic oil, Pyrolysis, Thermal cracking.
