This course introduces the student to the subject of Tool

Design. Emphasis will be placed on the following topics:
Jig & Fixture Design and Die Design. The fundamental
concepts of design will be taught with respect to
Drilling & Milling, Holding Fixtures, Assembly Fixtures
and Pressworking Dies (Blank & Pierce). Using a C.A.D.
environment, the student will develop a working design
for an assigned part and produce fully annotated and
dimensioned General Assembly & Detail Drawings. This
will also include all of the necessary calculations and
research for each design. The student will produce
designs for a Drill Jig or Milling Fixture and a
Pressworking Die. The method of instruction will be
topical lectures and interactive “hands on” instruction
at the computer workstation.
