3D Printed Cast

One kind of bone healing procedure is called bone casting where a cast is used in place of the
injury so as to hold the broken bone in the right place as the healing progresses and also used for
preventing or restricting much of the muscle contractions; after the surgical treatment of the
fractured bones.
The basic concept is relatively straightforward: a scanner gathers the specifications of the broken
limb, and a design software program uses them to build a personalized cast. The cast is printed,
often in two pieces, and secured in place until the limb heals.

 It looks better and stylish.
 They allow enough air to ventilate & are thus breathable.
 These casts are washable.
 They help the patient with the cast enough chance to scratch or itch the area of its
application.

 The cost of these 3D printed casts are likely to be less as compared to the effort involved
in the development of the modest form of the cast having an ultimate effect on the
process of bone healing.
 3-D-printed casts boast an open-lattice plastic design that’s customized to the individual
patient.
 They’re waterproof, they’re more comfortable, and they may even help the bones heal
faster.
 Printing the cast eliminates the variability of hand molding, and its design.
 3D printed cast is useful for assessing skin health and re-dressing wounds, which may
reduce the number of follow-up visits.
 The cast lets in plenty of air, which prevents that stuffy, itchy feeling.
Pre-Surgical Models

representation of a patient’s anatomy. A high-resolution 3D model gives doctors a more holistic
view than the conventional 2D realm of radiography.

rehabilitation, saving a huge amount of hospital resources.
