Gods Justice, Mercy and Grace
Gods Justice, Mercy and Grace
Ps 89:14 Righteousne ss and jus tice are the found ation of your throne; love and
faithfulness go before yo u.
Ps 97:2 C louds and thick darknes s surround him; righteous ness and justice are the
foundation of his throne.
Le 19:15 "'Do not perve rt justice; do no t show p artiality to the poor o r favoritism to
the great, b ut judge your neighbo r fairly.
Lu 18 :1 Then Jesus told his disc iples a pa rable to show them that they should
always pray and not give up.
2 He said: "In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared
about men.
3 And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea,
'Grant me justice against my adversary.'
4 "For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, 'Even though I don't fear
God o r care ab out men,
5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so
that she w on't eve ntually we ar me out w ith her c oming!'"
6 And the Lord said, "Listen to what the unjust judge says.
7 And w ill not God bring abo ut justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day
and night? W ill he ke ep p utting them off?
8 I te ll you, he w ill see that they get justic e, a nd quickly. However, when the Son of
Man co mes, will he find faith on the earth?"
Mark 10:26 The disciples w ere even mo re amaze d, and s aid to eac h other, "W ho
then can be sa ved?"
27 Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but not with God;
all things are possible with God."
28 Peter said to him, "W e have le ft everything to follow you!"
29 "I tell you the truth," Jesus replied, "no one who has left home or brothers or
sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel
30 will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age (homes, brothers,
sisters, mo thers, children a nd fields-- and w ith them, perse cutions) and in the a ge to
come, eternal life.
31 But many who are first will be last, and the last first."
Heb 11 :32 And w hat more sha ll I say? I do not have time to tell about G ideon,
Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel and the prophets,
33 who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what
was promised; who shut the mouths of lions,
34 quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; whose
weakness was turned to strength; and who became powerful in battle and routed
foreign armies.
35 W omen rece ived back their dead, raised to life again. O thers we re tortured a nd
refused to b e release d, so tha t they might gain a better re surrection.
36 Some faced jee rs and flogging, while still others w ere chained and put in prison.
37 They w ere stone d; {37 S ome early manus cripts <s toned; they w ere put to the
test;>} they were sawe d in two; they w ere put to d eath by the s word. They we nt
about in sheepsk ins and goatskins, des titute, persecuted and mistreated--
38 the world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains,
and in caves and holes in the ground.
39 Thes e were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had
been promised.
40 God had pla nned something better for us so that o nly together w ith us would
they be mad e perfect.
Mercy of God
God does not give us what we deserve!
rachuwm = merciful- full of compassion,
checed = mercy- kindness; by implication (towards God) piety: rarely (by
oppos ition) reproof, or (s ubject.) b eauty:--favour, goo d deed (-liness, -ness ), kindly,
(loving-)kindness, merciful (kindness), mercy, pity, reproach, wicked thing.
Mt 9:13 But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.' {13 Hosea
6:6} For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
Lu 18:9 To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down
on everybody else, Jesus told this parable:
10 "Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax
collector.
11 The Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself: 'God, I thank you that I am not
like other men-- robbers, evildoers, adulterers-- or even like this tax collector.
12 I fast twice a week a nd give a tenth of all I get.'
13 "But the ta x collector sto od at a d istance. H e would no t even look up to heaven,
but beat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.'
14 "I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God.
For e veryone who exalts himself w ill be humble d, a nd he who humbles himself will
be exalted."
Grace of God
Pr 3:33 The LORD's curse is on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the home of
the righteous.
34 He mocks proud mockers but gives grace to the humble.
charis = grac iousness (as gra tifying), of manne r or a ct (a bstract or c oncrete ; literal,
figurative or spiritual; espec ially the divine influence upon the heart, and its
reflection in the life; including gratitude):--acceptable, be nefit, favour, gift, grace(-
ious), joy, liberality, pleasure, thank(-s, -worthy).
Lu 23:34 Jesus s aid, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know w hat they are
doing."
1Pe 1:15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do;
16 for it is written: "Be holy, because I am holy." {16 Lev. 11:44,45; 19:2; 20:7}
17 Since yo u call on a Father w ho judges e ach man's work impartially, live your
lives as strangers here in reverent fear.
18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that
you were redeeme d from the empty w ay of life handed do wn to you from yo ur
forefathers,
19 but w ith the precious b lood of Christ, a lamb without b lemish or defect.
20 He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last
times for your sake.
21 Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified
him, and so your faith and hope are in God.
22 No w that you ha ve purified yourselves by obeying the truth s o that you have
sincere love for yo ur brothers, love one ano ther deep ly, from the heart. {2 2 Some
early manuscripts <from a pure heart>}
23 For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable,
through the living and enduring word of God.
24 For, "All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field;
the grass withers and the flowers fall,
25 but the w ord of the Lord stands fore ver." {25 Isaiah 40:6-8 } And this is the
word tha t was p reached to you.
Eph 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-- and this not from
yourselves, it is the gift of God--
9 not by w orks, s o that no one can boa st.
2Co 12:7 To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great
revelations, the re was given me a thorn in my flesh, a me ssenger o f Satan, to
torment me.
8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me.
9 But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect
in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so
that Christ's power may rest on me.
10 T hat is why, for Christ's sak e, I delight in w eak nesses , in ins ults, in hardships, in
persec utions, in difficulties. For when I am w eak, the n I am strong.
