Versions of SAP:: Releases

SAP began releasing versions of its software in the 1970s, starting with R/1 and moving to R/2 in the 1980s and R/3 in 1992. In 2004, SAP released ECC (ERP Central Component) with a revised technical architecture. The newest version is SAP ECC 6.0 Enhancement Pack 8, with SAP also now offering S/4HANA as the latest evolution of its suite.

Versions of SAP:

1. SAP R/2 :- (R was for "Real-time data processing" and "2" was for "2-tier") - 1980s and early
1990s.

2. SAP R/3 :-was launched on 6th July 1992.

3. Newer version of the software, with revised technical architecture, was released in 2004, and
named as SAP ERP Central Component (ECC).

The Newest versions of the product is SAP ECC 6.0 Enhancement Pack 8.
