The Beauty of Video Games


Introduction
Video games also known as electronic games that are played which requires
human interaction with a user interface that generates visual feedback. Usually
video games are played using a computer or a console. If you compare computers
with consoles you will see computers has greater user control over gaming
hardware and software also has greater capacity for input, processing and output.
Different genres of games
There are various genres of video games out there but only some of them
are described below:
Action games require physical and metal challenges to overcome. These games
sometimes need incredible reflexes to overcome these challenges. For example-
Devil may cry.

MMO stands for Massively Multiplayer Online games which are highly based on
internet. Players can also play these games on LAN. Here players can use internet
to connect, interact with other gamers. Strategy games such as Clash of Clans
require building up your armies, inventories, resources etc.

Simulation isn’t actually meant for entertainment rather for real-world application
such as learning to control vehicles, tanks, ships & aircraft. You can learn how to
control these vehicles & use it to train professionals.

Adventure games are usually single player games which are based on the
character’s personal experiences. His/her story let’s you know what are your
missions and how to complete them.

Racing games can be played either first person or third person perspective. It
involves racing competition of any type of land, air & sea vehicles.

Puzzle games are for those gamers who love to solve difficult puzzles. There are
many difficulty levels from easy to expert. Here you have to match the color of
different shapes where no action is involved.

Sports games are based on real-world sports such as cricket, football etc. As you
move through the levels you can unlock new skills of real professional players. For
example FIFA series.

Parents always complain about the bad effects of video games. But there are some
educational games for kids to help them learn while playing. There are testing
questions where you can answer multiple choice questions.
Positive Effects of Video Games
There are some positive effects of playing video games. Only some of
them are given below:
When a child plays games like Angry Bird or Fruit Ninja it helps them to become
the master in problem solving and logic. Shooting games like Call of Duty
requires the player to keep track of the character, where he is heading, where to
aim the gun, whether the bullets hitting the enemy, when to reload and so on. This
helps to improve hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills and spatial skill. Strategy
games like Age of Empires helps the players to learn how to utilize available
resources. Action games like Devil May Cry train the player’s brain to make faster
decision without losing accuracy. In a strategy game a gamer has to deal with
immediate problem while keeping his long term goal in mind. Army related games
such as Call of Duty are used to train soldiers to improve situational awareness. A
game has many internal clues which are needed to be revealed. Players figure it out
by recognizing pattern. Multiplayer (online) games are played among players
around the world. Some of these games requires team work which teaches us how
play well with others.
Negative Effects of Video Games
Difficult to admit but video games have some negative effect as well. Some
important negative effects has been given below

Action games sometimes contain heavy violence which causes the children to have
aggressive thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Some children become socially
isolated because of extreme video game playing. There are games which causes
peoples to have violent behavior, vengeance and aggression which are really bad
for our young generation. Studies have shown if a student spends too much time in
his video games his academic performance falls to a dangerous level. Although
some studies have shown that video games enhances concentration but another
study has revealed that video games enhances the short term concentration but
damages long term concentration. Some children have experienced obesity, video
induce seizures, muscle and skeletal disorders, such as tendonitis, nerve
compression and carpel tunnel syndrome.
Console VS PC
There will always be a war between gamers to decide which hardware is better for
playing video games. I have provided some characteristics of both these medium.

Console is cheaper than computer. But it has low quality graphics compare to
computer. It’s not upgradable and it has limited performance.

Whereas personal computer is more expensive compare to console. It has high


quality graphics. It can be upgraded according to the user’s preference. That’s why
it provides maximum performance.

So you can see that Personal computers costs higher than consoles. So if you want
to play games and you have limited budget I personally suggest you to go for
consoles like Xbox One or Play-station 4. But if you want to travel to the realm of
video games I suggest you to buy a gaming PC. If you pay more you will have far
greater gaming performance.
Conclusion
In the end I must say that all things have their pros and cons. Video games are also
one of them. So I inspire people play games & learn to maintain balance. Have fun
but not at the cost of your life & remember gaming is not a crime.
