Detailed Lesson Plain in Character Education 7

The document outlines a lesson plan on emotional regulation. It includes learning objectives, content, materials, skills, and learner background. The lesson uses an inductive method, with activities where students observe emotions in video clips and scenarios, and place reactions on an emotions spectrum from extremely low to extremely high. They discuss how intensely felt emotions can cause trouble, while muted responses like Nora's can mask underlying feelings. The goal is for students to understand managing feelings in daily life.

A. Preparation
Good Morning Class!

Let us all stand first and Pray, Please Good Morning Ma’am
Lead the prayer Benjamin

Our Father in heaven….

Thank you benj. Class please pick up the
pieces of dirt under your chair.

Thank you class, Who’s absent for today?

None Ma’am!
Wow! Very good! Please give yourself a
round of applause for a perfect attendance.

How are you today class? What did you

do last weekend? Yes Carmel?
My mother and I went ot
the mall to buy new clothes, Ma’am
That’s great! What did you feel while
shopping with your Mom?
Happy Ma’am, Its rare for my Mom
To be free even during weekends.

It’s good to hear that you’re happy, I’m

sure your mom feels the same way Carmel. How
about you Leo? I stayed indoors, my friend
decided to cancel our plan to hang out.
Oh, are you angry at your friend for
cancelling? I’m not because he had a valid
reason for cancelling, he caught flu.
Okay Leo I hope you friend will recover
soon. Thank you for sharing Carmel and Leo.
Now judy what did we talked about last
meeting? Ma’am we talked about the
importance of understanding yourself.
Very good Judy! Anthea please tell us
your insight about the importance of knowing
ourselves.
Ma’am Knowing
ourselves is important because you cannot
love something you don't know and if you do
not know yourself you are prone to self
judgment, guilt, shame, low self worth etc.
Wow what a beautiful Insight Anthea!
And if you cannot love yourself there is no way
you can be happy, no way to feel that everything
is exactly as it should be, no matter how blessed
you are you won’t be able to appreciate that
because you’ll always feel there is something
lacking.
It seems like you already get the topic, I
hope you’ll be able to know yourselves more
deeply.

B. Presentation

Our topic for today is all about Emotional Regulation

C. Comparison and Abstraction

/Insert Video Here/

Now Rj what can we observe in the first

scene?

Riley is dancing to the beat of the

music, Ma’am
Okay and what does the girl feels during
that scene? How can we say that the girl feels this
I think she’s happy because she
way?
looks like she’s having fun.

Very good! Gene what can we notice

She’s sad Ma’am
from the second scene?

And why do we think so?

She frowned when she spilled the
milk on her homework.
Good observation Gene! Melody what
can we notice on the third scene? How can we say
so?

Riley is angry because she was on her

last piece of card and it suddenly collapsed
Fantastic! Thank you Melody. Irven our
observation on the last scene?

She tried to get away to the spider

Why? What do you think she felt when

she saw the spider?
She was so scared that she tried to
get away and fell off the chair.
Good thinking! Thank you Irvin.

/Will draw on the blackboard the

spectrum with labels such as extremely low-
balance-extremely high/
Sara gets upset when Ted tells her
about his plans to go biking with friends. She yells
at Ted, accusing him of caring more about his
friends than he cares about her. She feels really
angry and hurt. Ted tries to reason with her,
assuring her that they’ll get to spend the following
weekend together. But Sara is so upset that his
words don’t make a difference. Her anger grows
as she remembers all the times Ted has hurt her
and all the other times she’s been hurt by
previous partners. She tells she doubts whether
their relationship can even work and storms off,
slamming the door behind her. It takes a long time
for her to calm down. The next day, she feels
ashamed of her behavior.

Now Class, what did you observed

from the situation? Yes Jennifer.
Sara is overreacting and jumping to conclusions.

Thank you Jennifer, how about this

one?

Nora gets upset when Charles tells her

about his plans to go drinking with his colleagues.
Her head begins to hurt and she feels confused.
She tells Charles its fine and that he should have
fun with his colleagues. She says she has to do
work this weekend anyway. It’s true that she does
have work to do, but she was planning on putting
off the work in order to spend some quality time
with Charles. She convinces herself its better that
she works. Later, she feels spaced out and numb.
She spends the evening binge-watching TV and
eating chocolates. The next day, she feels
ashamed of her behavior.

Yes Angel? She doesn’t have much reaction to what

happened, Ma’am

Very good Angel. We have here class a

spectrum that shows the intensity of emotions.
/draws the spectrum/

Extremely Balance Extremely

high Low
Emotions Emotions

Sarah’s reaction on the first example

belongs in what level of intensity, Carmel?
In the Extremely high Emotions,Ma’am

That’s right, Carmel. Between the

two, which one can we relate the most when
reaching to certain situations, Judy?
I can relate just the slightest to Sarah
Ma’am.
Thank you Judy how about you
Anthea? Who do you relate to?
I’m more like a Nora Ma’am

Thank you Anthea. What do you

think happened after Sarah and Nora calmed
down, Benj?
They both feel ashamed.
That’s right benj! Thank you.
Students those people like Sarah tend to react
more powerfully in certain situations than other
people do.

What’s the disadvantage of having

extremely high emotion, Irven? It could get you into trouble

That’s right! When your emotions

are very intense it is difficult to be reasonable and
make wise decisions so instead of solving a
problem it can actually make it worse.

As for Nora, can we notice from

her reaction, Leo? It seems like she doesn’t care about Charles plans
even though she wants to be with Charles.
Great observation leo, thank you.
People like Nora work really hard to not feel
anything at all. Nora appeared to be tough and
uncaring which made her regret when she
realized.
Why do we think people like Nora
are afraid of feeling anything? Generation Z these
days are usually like this especially when it comes
to love. Anyone? Ah yes Judy.
People like Nora try so hard not to
feel anything because they’ve been hurt so many
times.
Wow that’s deep, thank you Judy. What do
you think Nora felt when she was alone in their
house, Rj?
Numbed, Ma’am.

That’s right! The problem with protecting

yourself from painful feelings can make you lose
the ability to recognize positive feelings. You’ll be
stuck with the feeling of emptiness. Is it clear my
dear students?
Yes, Ma’am!
Are there any questions?
None, Ma’am!
D. Generalization

What did you learn in today’s

discussion, Gene?
I learned about the different levels
of emotional intensity, Ma’am.
