Clarinet Warm-Up/practice Schedule: Last Modified: Jul 4, 2019

The clarinet warm-up/practice schedule involves beginning with breathing and embouchure exercises, including long tones of varying durations to work on tone and breath support. Articulation exercises then focus on tonguing at increasing speeds. Scales with legato, tenuto, and staccato articulations are also practiced. The warm-up ends with chromatic scales using different articulations. Depending on time, an etude may be played to work on musicality. A sample 2-hour practice session focuses mainly on region music, with the last 30 minutes reserved for marching band if needed.
