School Discipline Policy
Enrollment in BIS signifies the student's willingness to uphold its philosophy, objectives, and policies. Thus,
the students must abide by the rules and regulations, which have been instituted to serve their own good and
the whole BIS community.

The students' right to due process will be ensured through the conduct of an impartial investigation and
hearing. A student may express his/her ideas within the accepted norms of communication and following the
rules of courtesy and decorum.
Based on the Manual of Regulations of Private Schools, school officials and teachers have the right to
impose appropriate and reasonable disciplinary measure, in case of minor offense. In case of major offense,
the following standards must be met:
1. The student must be informed in writing of the nature and cause of the major offense and the evidence
against him/her.
2. He/She has the right to explain her side and to have time to solicit testimony on his behalf.
3. The evidence must be considered by the investigating committee who will hear and decide the case.
D. Types of Offenses
BIS has the right to impose reasonable disciplinary measures and administrative
penalties on erring students.
1. Major Offenses
a. Forgery
b. Vandalism
c. Cheating
d. Stealing
e. Gambling
f. Possession of deadly weapon and pornographic/indecent materials
k. Drunkenness
m. Dishonesty
o. Possession of firecrackers
t. Smoking
u. Preventing or threatening any student or school personnel from entering the school premises, attending
classes, or discharging duties
v. Displaying of public affection smoking, playing video games, billiards, drinking liquor while wearing
the school/P.E. uniform
2. Minor Offenses
a. Discourtesy
b. Entering class without a class entry slip after a student has been late or absent

1. Disciplinary Procedures. The Discipline Committee conducts an investigation on the cases filed in his
office.
a. Upon receipt of the written report on misconduct of any student, the Discipline Committee, or its
authorized representative, shall conduct a preliminary investigation of the charge filed against the
student for prima facie evidence.
b. Formal charges shall be filed against the student, if there is a prima facie evidence of guilt.
c. A notice shall be sent to the student informing him of the charges and requires the student to answer
the charge and/or appear for questioning before Discipline Committee within 72 hours from receipt of
the notice.
d. Except in meritorious cases as determined by the Discipline Committee, the failure of the student to
answer the charge and/or appear during the investigation as required, shall be construed as a waiver
thereof.
a. If an investigation has been carried out and the Discipline Committee has found sufficient evidence or
if the accused has admitted his guilt, the Discipline Committee shall impose the penalties stated in this
Student Handbook.
b. If the decision is accepted by the student, the same shall be final and executor. If it is not acceptable,
the aggrieved student may file a motion for reconsideration within (5) days from receipt of the decision
to the Discipline Committee.
4. Behavior Probation
a. Expulsion - a student who committed a major offense for two (2) times; minor offense for three (3)
times
b. Suspension - a student who committed one (1) major offense or two (2) minor offenses
1)5 days - major offense
2)3 days - minor offense
A student is held responsible for lessons that will be given during his/her absence from the school
