Note: In verb conjugation, to get the verb stem, just delete 다.

Present Tense
Past Tense
Vowel Verb Stem
1. ㅏ or ㅐ – add 요
Verb → Delete 다 → Get the present tense → Delete 요
2. 하 – delete 하, add 해요
→ Add ㅆ어요
3. ㅗ – ㅏ요
4. ㅜ – add ㅓ요 Future Tense

5. ㅟ – add ㅓ요
1. Vowel verb stem – add ㄹ거예요
6. ㅣ – delete ㅣ, add ㅕ요
2. Consonant verb stem – add 을거예요
7. 르 – with ㅏ or ㅗ, delete 르, add ㄹ라요
3. ㄹ Verb stem – add 거예요
르 – without ㅏ or ㅗ, delete 르, add ㄹ러요 4. Irregular Verb (Adjective)

ㅂ Verb Stem
• ㅡ (with vowel ㅏ or ㅗ) delete ㅡ, add ㅏ요
Drop ㅂ, change to 우, add ㄹ거예요
• ㅡ (without vowel ㅏ or ㅗ) delete ㅡ, add ㅓ요

Consonant Verb Stem
Drop ㄷ, change to ㄹ, add 을거예요.
1. With vowel ㅏ or ㅗ – add 아요
2. Without vowel ㅏ or ㅗ – add 어요 Arrange
3. ㄷ (with vowel ㅏ or ㅗ) – add 아요 Use this type of future tense conjugation on sentences
with time, date, and place.
ㄷ (without vowel ㅏ or ㅗ) – drop ㄷ, change
to ㄹ, add 어요. Verb stem + 겠어요
4. Irregular Verb (Adjective)
ㅂ – drop ㅂ, change to 우, add ㅓ요 I Will
1. Vowel verb stem – add ㄹ게요
Note: When you encounter a verb that ends in ㅂ, 2. Consonant Verb Stem – add 을게요
identify if it is a regular verb or an adjective. If it’s a
regular verb, use the rule of with or without ㅏ or ㅗ. Will
1. Vowel verb stem – add ㄹ래요
2. Consonant verb stem – add 을래요
