Lang Dulay is a T'boli weaver from Lake Sebu, South Cotabato who was awarded the National Living Treasures award for weaving abaca ibat cloth called T'nalak. Many traditional Philippine arts are at risk of being lost without efforts to document and preserve them. Lang Dulay's weaving demonstrates the artistic, painstaking processes of traditional arts that require patience and time. However, the rise of technology has changed perspectives and priorities, making traditional practices less common. Efforts to recognize artists like Lang Dulay aim to promote Filipino cultural identity and encourage appreciation and preservation of indigenous arts.

REACTION PAPER ABOUT T’BOLIS EMBLEM AND MASTER WEAVER LANG DULAY

Before the generation of information time or rise of technology, there are many
arts that being preserved for a long period by our ancestors. We had different culture
and arts that is closely to be fade totally because of multiple factors. That is the
reason why GAMABA is created so that those artworks and artists will be recognized
and their artworks will be recorded as well the process and techniques that they
used, for some purposes; First, so that it can be longer preserve; we all know
nowadays, technology evolve faster and new generation has different perspective,
wants, insights and many others compared for those generation who belongs in 80’s.
As a matter of fact, persons doing those kind of artworks are few in counts and more
sad every now and then, their counts step–down and down. There are only few that
being passed and accepted to continued by their relatives and some ignore and
prefer to be with on what is in current time

One of those is weaving, famous for those artwork is LANG DULAY, a T’bolis at
lake Sebu South Cotabato. She is awarded by Gawad sa Manlilikha ng Bayan or By
National living treasures award of weaving the abaca ibat cloth called T’nalak. As we
observed all institutions of art preserver make steps so that those art be longer
survive (awards, documentaries and many others) that if someone can watch or
being informed, someone might give concern about the said art. In short they wanted
that we Filipinos will take care and preserve our own identity and be proud of it.
At new generation or those belong at present time or at a millennial time which is
a most commonly term used, as what we observe that their artworks and processes
we can conclude the characteristics of traditional art, such it is very artistic, need
patience of doing it, hard to be processed because it is manual or hand to hand
process, it requires more time and many more. And we, who are belong at present
time(21st century) if we look at them we are being impressed and at some point we
can ask ourselves that it is true? How amazing like impossible way, Am I right?!!...
As far as we know or observed major factor of slowly disappear of practices is the
rise of technology that bring us an efficient and effective way of doing something or
making something. Technology affect and changed the perspective of peoples, and
technology create something new to people that is very far compared before.
