TAILSPIN TOYS
You recently opened an online toy store. You have sold products to 500 individual customers. You are
evaluating customer data and order data.
1. On the “Customers” worksheet, format the table so that every other row is shaded. Use a
technique that automatically updates the formatting if you insert a new row.
2. On the “Customers” worksheet, sort the table to order the records by the “CountryOrRegion”
field, with customers in the United States first and customers in Canada second. Then sort the
customers in each country alphabetically (from A to Z) by the “StateOrProvince” field. Finally,
sort the customers in each state or province in ascending order by the “PostalCode” field.
3. On the “Customers” worksheet, enter a formula in cell N2 that uses an Excel function to return
the average age of the customers based on the values in the “CurrentAge” column.
4. On the “Products” worksheet, apply a number format to display the numbers in the “Weight”
column to three decimal places.
5. On the “Orders” worksheet, use an automatic formatting method to format cells in the
“OrderTotal” column that contain above-average values by applying Green Fill with Dark
Green Text. Use a technique that automatically updates the formatting if the column values
change.
6. On the “Orders” worksheet, enter a formula in cell J2 that uses an Excel function to return the
“OrderTotal” value of the individual order that has the highest “OrderTotal” value.
7. On the “Customer by Order” worksheet, use an Excel data tool to remove all records with
duplicate “CustomerID” values from the table. Do not remove any other records.

ROSTER
As a teacher at the School of Fine Art, you have downloaded the roster of one of your classes. You are
preparing the data for import into another system.
1. On the “Roster” worksheet, configure rows 1 through 6 so they are present but not visible.
2. Delete column D in the “Students” worksheet.
3. In cell C8 of the “Roster” worksheet, use a function to put a copy of cell A8 so that only the
first letter is capitalized.
4. Configure the “Roster” sheet to display row 7 on every page that is printed.

TEST RESULTS
You are teacher’s aid at the Graphic Design Institute. You are creating a report of test results.
1. Add a new worksheet named “Microsoft Word” to this workbook.
2. Add a function to cell I2 in the “Key Applications” worksheet that will display the word “Yes”
if the value in cell H2 is higher than 719, otherwise, display the word “No”. fill the cells in
column I to show whether or not each student passed.
3. Add a Column Sparklines in the cell J2 in the “Key Applications” worksheet that will represent
the numbers in cells B2:G2.
4. Add the cells B15:G15 to the “Test Results” chart in the “Key Applications” worksheet. Name
the series “Average Score”.
5. Display the formulas that are in the cells of the “Living Online” worksheet.

BANK STATEMENT
You are financial advisor and are reviewing a client’s bank statement.
1. Add the word “2015” to the Title property of the document.
2. In the “October” worksheet, use an Excel feature to copy the formula in cell G12 so that it will
fill cells G13:G35.
3. In cell E37 of the “October” worksheet, use a function to calculate the average of the cells
E11:E35 that have a debit value over $300.
4. Make a copy of “October” worksheet to the right of the “October” worksheet.
5. Add the coins.jpg file in the Pictures folder to the right of the “Bank Statement” title on the
“October” worksheet.

MARGIES TRAVEL
You work for the Sales department of Margie’s Travel. Margie’s Travel advertises on Facebook,
television, and radio. They have three call centers that handle inbound and outbound sales calls. You
need to create a report that shows sales and marketing data for January through June.
1. Import the contents of FBClickthroughs.csv in the Documents folder into the “Social Media
Ads” worksheet beginning at cell A17. Choose comma as the delimiter. (Accept all other
defaults).
2. On the “Inbound Calls” worksheet, add a row to the table that automatically calculates total
sales.
3. On the “Inbound Calls” worksheet, resize the “Boston Sales Data” chart so that it covers only
cells H9 through N14.

4. Move the line chart on the “Outbound Calls” worksheet to a new chart sheet named “Whale
Tour Sales”.
5. On the “Inbound Calls” worksheet, modify the “St. Louis Sales by Product” chart to show
products on the horizontal axis and the months as the series.

BALDWIN MUSEUM
Baldwin Museum of Science is partially funded by donor contributions. Donors are given opportunities
to participate in special events. You are creating an annual report that shows donor contributions and
participation.
1. On the “Donor Contact Info” worksheet, add a column named “Cell Phone” to the right of the
“Home Phone” column.
2. On the “Donor List” worksheet, change the “DonorLevels” table to cells. Keep the formatting.
3. Copy A59:C63 on the “Donor List” worksheet to A2:C6 on the “Top Donors” worksheet.
4. On the “Demographics” worksheet, create a 3-D Clustered Column chart that shows the total
donations by age group. Age group should be listed from youngest to oldest on the horizontal
axis. Change the chart title to “Donations by Age Group”.

TOY STORE
Tailspin Toys manufactures board games and action figures based on popular movies. They have
recently launched an outdoor product line. You are creating the annual shareholder report.
1. On the “Games” worksheet, merge row 12 through row 18 in the “Category” and “Column1”
columns of the “Costs” range to form a single 7-row column named “Category”. Values should
remain left-justified.
2. On the “Shareholders Info” worksheet, change the height of the row that contains the text
“Annual Report” to “30”.
3. Rename the “Outdoor toys” worksheet to “Outdoor sports”.
4. In cell C5 of the “Shareholders Info” worksheet, add a hyperlink to
http://tailspintoys.com/beyond.html. Diplay the text “More Info” in the cell.
5. Modify the print settings to fit each worksheet on a single page.
