Saxophone Stunt s
Slap T ongue
Place the tongue on the reed, then snap it away very sharply.
The sharper the snap the better the slap.
Practice the slap in playing Slap N-Sax-See page 55.

The Laugh
The laughis an easy trick.
The simplest method is to laugh naturally into the saxophone.
Practice laughing the following sylables Ha- Ha-Ha -Ha.
Start on high D and decend in a chromatic scale.
Remember the more natural the sylables are expressed the easier you will
find it to do this stunt.
Practice the laugh in playing Laf -N-Sax. See page 61.

Xrlutter Tongue
This trick is made by a whiring of the tongue.
Attack the reed with the sylable drrrrrrrrrrrrah.
Practice the flutter tongue in playing the break in Break-N-Sax. See page 63.

lf alking
The taik is produced similar to that of the laugh.
Practice talking the words "That's A11,, and use high E and high C, or high D
and high B fingerings.
Originate other phrases using similar fingerings.

The Yibrato
The Vibrato can be played by the hand motion or the jaw motion.
Eand ll'lot, ion: Vibrate your saxophone so that the mouthpiece vibrates against
the lower jaw. This has a tendency to raise or lower the pitch thus causing avi-
brato tone.
Jaw Motiou To produce the vibrato by the jarv motion say the sylables Wah-Wah-
Wah-Wah, etc.

The Glissando or Slide

This effect is produced by either opening or closing key or keys very slorvly, and
by changiflg the amount of pressure onthe reed.
Practice the Gliss in playing Slip-N-Sax. See page 67.
