Lesson Outcome Learners will be able to modify verbs using adverbs


and recognize adverbs in a sentence.

Lesson Content 1. Differentiation between adverbs and


adjectives.
2. Recognition of adverbs.
3. Reading and writing adverbs in sentences.

Introduction (Part 1: Call the students in groups of five to the mat to


Starter, ‘The Hook’) begin the lesson.

Activity: “Follow my actions”

Ask the group to stand on the mat and find a small 5 min
space of their own. Instruct the group to perform
the following actions (verbs):

 Walk (on the spot)


 Walk slowly (on the spot)

 Jump (on the spot)


 Jump quickly (on the spot)

 Clap
 Clap softly

Explain that the instructions slowly, quickly and


softly are describing the verbs walk, jump and clap
and are therefore called adverbs.
