•INTRODUCTION
Transitional changes in the demands for the mini-excavators by territo-
ry are shown in Fig.1. You will find that up to 1998, Japan's demanded
around 50% of all the mini-excavators in the world, but since 1999,
Europe's, in turn, has demanded over 50%.
Breakdown of the mini-excavators by machine class in Europe in 2001
is shown in Fig.2. More specifically, the mini-excavators ranging from
3tons to 6tons (excluding) occupy 30% or greater of all the Europe's
mini-excavators. The ZAXIS30, ZAXIS35, ZAXIS40 and ZAXIS50 are
here launched as the second strategic models to the European mar-
ket. These models are the successors of the conventional EX30-2,
EX35-2, EX40-2 and EX45-2. The lineup, comprising these models,
and preceding ZAXIS16, ZAXIS18 and ZAXIS25, covers about 90% of
all the European demands. It is expected that this new lineup encou-
rages you in sales activities

•EXPLANATION OF SELLING POINTS
•Easier Operation
•Wide Working Ranges
To achieve top-class excavation efficiency, working ranges,
including maximum digging depth, are widened.
7
•Less Projection
Upperstructure projections from the undercarriage while swinging are reduced as much as possible. This
helps protect the machine cover from damage due to striking against obstructions.

allows easy, speedy combined operation of the front
attachment and travel, as well as productive grading
and digging with the bucket pushed to wall. The two
variable displacement pumps deliver the optimum oil
flow to travel, boom, arm, bucket and extra circuits;
and one gear pump delivers the oil flow to swing,
blade and boom swing circuits.
No change in swing speed while traveling smoo-
thens combined operation, maintaining conventional
good straight-line mobility.
The boom cushion mechanism is provided at the
boom cylinder (raise side) and at the arm cylinder
(raise/lower sides) for smoother operation and hig-
her productivity.

•Pilot Control of Travel •Superior Mobility
The blade, boom-swing, extra, travel levers and Two-speed motor permits two-speed travel: swift
pedals are pilot controlled like conventional front and job-to-job travel, and powerful travel for blade opera-
swing levers. This can reduce control forces of wrist tion. With the foot switches next to the operator
