Abstract
The purpose of this research is to show the progress report of Lahore waste and
management company in different areas of the Lahore. In this report we discussed about
LWMC, it’s progress report in Garhi shahu, shadman, tajpura and comparison between
standard class and low middle class areas.
Introduction:
Lahore having a huge influx of population from its neighboring cities
and smaller Towns creates a problem of Low level of household conditions and
highly dense bridge header areas in Katchi Abadis and Low income area After
conducting a full fledge survey for the importance and needs of establishing this
company it was seen that the Heart of Punjab is creating some 5000 tons of
waste everyday which was to be collected from the streets looking towards
these result City district Government of Lahore on 19 March 2010 established a
new company named as Lahore Waste Management Company under section 42
of companies ordinance 1984. This company replaced City district Government
in performing its tasks and having overlapping concerns with WASA. After the
establishment of this company a services and Asset management agreement
(SAAMA) was signed between SWM (CDGL) and LWMC. All the assets and
functions of SWM and TMA were handed over to LWMC for next 30 years.
Comparison of public perception of the performance of LWMC in the low
and high income areas of Lahore. As the waste collection is major problem in
modern era, in case of Lahore city LWMC has contracted two companies Ozpak
and Albayrak to tackle the problem of waste collection. This study aims to see
the perception of the public about the performance of LWMC. This study
conducted to assess performance of the company from public point of view. This
would help the company to bring improvement in the procedure of waste
collection.
Objective:
The basic objective of this report is to show the progress of LWMC in standard class and low
middle class areas.
Methodology:
We performed a user survey Garhi shahu, shadman, tajpura and in low middle class areas. In
this survey we asked question like which company is responsible for collecting solid waste, in
your area whether your waste collect door to door or whether you through in container at the
road side, how much you pay to contractor collector etc.
