PROCEDURE:
(1) Pilotage is compulsory.
(2) Pilot ordering: Vessels should request Pilot and advise ETA via agent 72h before arrival, and update daily with
draught, between 0900-1000 LT.
(3) Vessels may contact North Pilot Station or South Pilot Station on VHF Ch 69 after receiving instructions, and
advise ETA at Pilot boarding position, LOA and draught.
(4) Vessels anchored at the Wusong and Baoshan anchorages may contact Pilots on VHF Ch 15.

PROCEDURE:
(1) Participation: Participation in the Shanghai VTS is mandatory for the following:
(a) All passenger vessels
(b) Other vessels of 300 gt and over
(2) Vessels under 300 gt may participate in the Shanghai VTS on a voluntary basis.
(3) The working languages of the system are Mandarin Chinese and English.

REPORTING:
(1) Vessels crossing the Reporting Lines should report the following information:
(a) Vessel's name
(b) Call sign
(c) Maximum draught
(d) Destination
(2) Vessels equipped with AIS need not report if the information is correctly inputted.
(3) Vessels anchoring and unberthing should report as follows:
(a) Before anchoring
(b) After anchoring
(c) Before leaving berth
(4) Such vessels should report the following information:
(a) Vessel's name
(b) Place of anchorage or unberthing
(c) Time
(5) Vessels are required to report any traffic accidents, pollution incidents, engine damage, injuries to persons, and
any other emergency situations involved in or found, stating the following information:
(a) Vessel's name
(b) Nationality
(c) Place of accident
(d) Category of accident
(e) Engine damage
(f) Injuries to persons
(g) If assistance needed
(6) Reports are not required from vessels leaving the Shanghai VTS area.

(2) Hydro-meteorology information (on request)
(3) Traffic organisation
(4) Information service (on request)
