Chapter 1

Background of the study

Introduction

Deciding a career for the grade 12 student is crucial specially when the main objective of the Senior
highschool is preparing the students not only for college but for the possibility of employing right
after the graduation. Senior highschool tracks was geared towards student’s interest giving the
students an option to take classes specialized in Sport,Arts and Design,Academics and Vocational
tracks. With the help of these tracks the students will be able to take on the area of their expertise that
will allow them to be equipped with skills that will help them prepared for their future.

Deciding for your career plan after senior highschool is essential. Specially when the outcome of your
decision might have resulted of hindering you rather than helping you in the future. Every action has
it's own consequences, according to Montapert(1904)

"Nobody ever did, or ever will, escape the consequences of his choices" so it's better to choose your
words and action wisely. In choosing a senior highschool track a student must be willing take a risk
because in terms of choosing a strand there are a lot of factors the students needs to consider.
According to Boyer (1987), “in taking a course, one of the life’s major decision is being made. A lot of
time, money, and effort will be involved. The shape and excellence of the student’s life may rest on the
result". Students can opt for course they are going to be learning throughout their years in college the
decision-making ought to be taken seriously thus their future lies on the decision they are about to
make and should not be taken for granted.

Statement of the study

This study aims to determined the factors that affecting the preferred curriculum exit of the outgoing
senior highschool students in Congressional Integrated Highschool in Poinsettia st. Dasmarinas city of
the school year 2019 to 2020

1.what factor has a greatest influence in choosing their preferred curriculum exit.

1.3 gender

1.4 financial

Significance of the study

The study will be beneficial for the students, parents and teachers in terms of providing the students
an insights into the college courses selection process.

This study may help the junior highschool students on choosing the the track with the consideration of
their natural skills, abilities, interest, and aims. Countless number of students are making the wrong
decision because they tend to rush their decision to think of what career path to choose.
This study can help the teachers by giving the students a quality guidance to their choosen career path
it will also help them guide those who are in delimma regarding on which career may suits them.
Teachers play a big part of honing the individual students skills and decision-making ability inorder to
make a worthy decision on which path they are going to take after they graduated in Senior highschool.

This study will be a great help to the parents especially when they only want is the success in their
children’s career. A study shows that the students are more confident on their skills and abilities when
they have a support from their parents. This study can help both parties.

This research will not only benefit the students but the parents as well. As observed the students who
are forced to take on the course they don’t really want heavily affects their performance negatively as
they lose interest as the time goes on. This study will help them to be considerate of choosing a career
plan by considering a lot of factors before making a final decision.

Delimitation of the study

The study was delimited to the factors influencing the Senior highschool students of Congressional
integrated highschool during the school year 2019 to 2020. This study was focused on the grade 12
students in CIHS.

The data was gathered using the questionnaire that was made by the researchers it was given to every
selected 20 participants of each strands every sections.

Definition of terms

Course, according to Wikipedia is a unit of teaching that typically lasts one academic term, is led by
one or more instructor. A course is usually an individual subject.

This chapter discusses yhe literature applicable to the scope of this study. It also analyzes some
internet articles and materials to provide ample context and knowledge important to this study's
completion.

The chapter gathered the findings of the previous studies on factors affecting the prefer curriculum
exit of the grade 12 students in CIHS.

There are several factors that impact the students from Their decision regarding the course that they
we're going to take.

The literature review of this study focuses on the education and its role as a means to secure the future
odf the K-12 students, especially in ASEAN by 2015 in response to global competitiveness. The
literature also deals with issues related to the labor market, wor insufficiency, productivity,
marketability and employment.

A lot of activities must take at this place of thid changing society amd economy. We will face a lot of
challenges, particularly educators who are expected to do more with less Bbecause of rapidly evolving
technology and ongoing changes in global economy and demograph. A productive education system
will have to be of paramount importance of a multicultural society is to survived and flourished the
future. Specifically schools have always played critical role om ensuring that students have the requisite
skills for their job and career. The main role of education is to prepare students for life after preparing
of the world work in college is an important crucial parts
