Sheet 3-Solution Antena PDF

This document contains a sheet of solutions to problems related to antennas and wave propagation. It includes solutions to 6 problems involving concepts like directivity, gain, polarization, radiation patterns, and directivity calculations. The problems cover topics such as analyzing the directivity and gain of antennas based on efficiency and power, determining the polarization of plane waves, analyzing resultant waves, designing antennas with certain beamwidth properties, and using formulas to calculate directivity from radiation patterns. The sheet is authored by Dr. Gehan Sami for a 4th year electrical engineering course on communications.

1. The maximum radiation intensity of a 90% efficiency antenna is 200
mW/ unit solid angle. Find the directivity and gain (dimensionless and
in dB) when the
(a) Input power is 125.66 mW
(b) Radiated power is 125.66 mW

2. A lossless resonant half-wavelength dipole antenna, with input

impedance of 73 ohms, is connected to a transmission line whose
characteristic impedance is 50 ohms. Assuming that the pattern of the
