Gerunds and Infinitives act like verbs.

They can follow adjectives and


other verbs. Gerunds can also follow prepositions.

Verbs which are usually followed by a Gerund: Verbs which are usually followed by an infinitive:

acknowledge, admit, adore, anticipate, appreciate, afford, agree, appear, arrange, ask, attempt, care,
avoid, celebrate, confess, contemplate, delay, deny, choose, claim, come, consent, dare, decide, demand,
describe, detest, discuss, dislike, dread, endure, deserve, determine, elect, expect, fail, get, hate, help,
enjoy, fancy, finish, imagine, involve, keep, justify, hesitate, hope, hurry, intend, learn, manage, mean, need,
mention, mind, miss, omit, postpone, practise, quit, offer, plan, prepare, pretend, promise, refuse, resolve,
recall, recommend, regret, report, resume, risk, say, seem, tend, threaten, want, wish.
suggest, tolerate, understand.

COMPLETE WITH A GERUND OR AN INFINITIVE


1.- She agreed paying (pay) the electricity bill the following week.
