Introduction

This guideline enables dealers and their customers to benefit from cost reductions made possible through an established parts reusability and salvage program. Every

Summary

When objects become caught between the oil pump drive gears, the oil pump mounting pad on the cylinder block can break. In many cases, this method of retaining the
oil pump housing can be used instead of replacing the cylinder block. This method can be used only if 40% or more of the oil pump mounting pad can be supported on
the broken cylinder block mounting pad.

Procedure

1. Fabricated support block (A, Illustration 1) from 12.7 mm (0.50 in) thick mild steel.

2. Fabricate support block (B, Illustration 2) from 12.7 mm (0.50 in) thick mild steel.

M Drill two 8.20 mm (0.323 in) diameter
holes and tap for 3/8-16 thread.

3. Drill a new 10.5 mm (0.41 in) diameter hole (2, Illustration 3) through the oil pump mounting pad on the cylinder block.

0L-1352 Bolts.

(N) 47.44 mm (1.868 in).

4. Install oil pump (8), as shown in Illustration 4. To install the pump, use two 0L-1352 Bolts (4), five 5M-2894 Washers (5), and one 0L-1143 Bolt (6).
