6 General information and safety guidelines

Mechanical safety guidelines 0

WARNING Risk of injury from mechanical parts!

Non-compliance can lead to severe injury as well as material
damage.
¹ While the tasks described in this document are per-
formed, the heavy weight of the basic unit needs to be
tilted over.
¹ Perform the required work in a separate room.
¹ Perform the required work with 6 persons as stated in
this document.
¹ Perform the required work with special care and atten-
tion to detail.
¹ Pay special attention to your hands and feet to prevent
crushing.
¹ Before tilting over the basic unit, instruct all persons
assisting on the work flow and risks.

CAUTION Danger of burns from hot parts or components!

Non-observance can cause mild to moderately severe burns,
particularly on the hands.
¹ When the covers are opened, parts and components
(e.g., power supply components, heat sinks, electro-
magnetic brakes) are accessible which can reach tem-
peratures > 50 degrees Celsius during operation. To
avoid burns, you must turn off the system and allow it
to cool for at least 5 minutes before touching any parts
or components.

General information and safety guidelines 7

CAUTION Danger of injuries from mechanical parts!

Failure to adhere to these instructions can lead to mild to
moderately severe injuries, particularly to the hands.
¹ The C-arm of the SIREMOBIL Iso-C and ARCADIS Orbic
systems is made of carbon fiber composite material.
Damage to the carbon fiber structure (such as can be
caused by impact or by the cutting or scraping action
of tools) can cause individual carbon fibers or bundles
of such fibers to protrude. Touching such fibers or fiber
bundles can cause injury to the hands, or can cause
fibers to penetrate the tissues of the hands.
¹ Before beginning any work on the C-arm, perform a
visual inspection to make sure no such damage to the
carbon fiber structures has occurred.
¹ If minor superficial damage is detectable in the painted
area or in the area of the running surface edges of the
C-arm, wear work gloves and remove any protruding
carbon fibers. Afterward, carefully sand the damaged
areas smooth with fine sandpaper and seal the dam-
aged surfaces with paint. Spray paint in the color of the
C-arm may be used (see Service Tools Catalog).
¹ Also, use a damp sponge or cloth to remove any car-
bon fibers that may remain in the C-arm section.
¹ If more extensive or large-scale damage to the carbon
fiber structures is detected (such as crack formation or
peeling areas in the running surfaces, where broken
carbon fibers can be seen), then the C-arm must be
replaced.

CAUTION Danger of injuries from mechanical parts!

Failure to adhere to these instructions can lead to mild to
moderately severe injuries, particularly to the hands.
¹ When the cover panels are opened, parts such as
plugs, threaded bolts, cut-off cable ties, and sharp
component edges are exposed. Inattention can lead to
skin injuries (crushing, scrapes, cuts), particularly to
the hands.
¹ Work steps carried out on such parts and components
must be performed with particular attention and cau-
tion.
¹ Wear work gloves if necessary.

Failure to observe these guidelines can lead to serious inju-
ries, including death.
¹ This product can be contaminated with infected blood
or other bodily excretions.
¹ Avoid all contact with blood or other bodily excretions.
¹ Strictly observe the safety guidelines prescribed by
your service organization, to prevent infectious dis-
eases during customer service calls.
