Rationale

This document provides the rationale for a promotional video about bullying aimed at teenagers aged 14-19. The 5-10 minute video will show a child being bullied and affected mentally, then another child intervening but making the situation worse. It will then explain the bullies' life experiences and home situation. The video will rewind to show a better intervention. Survey results informed that bullying often happens at school or traveling to/from school. The video will include accurate scenes and address short and long term effects of bullying on victims and bullies based on research. It may be shown on TV or in schools during anti-bullying week to ensure the target audience views it.

Rationale

Today I want to introduce the idea of creating a promotional video

that informs teen viewers specifically between the ages of 14-19, on
how to handle bullying and what bullying can do to someone's
mental state. This promotional video will take between 5 and 10
minutes and will show a child getting bullied and how this is
affecting (him/her), then you would see a another child intervene
and stop the bullying but in the wrong way making that child the
bullies bully, when this happens the screen will freeze and show
why what the child that intervened said was hurtful what is going
on in the bullies life at home or just outside of school and this
child's life will not be good as it will show maybe abusive parents,
neighbourhood trouble that causes the child to act out at school
and gang trouble, after these factors are realised the video will
rewind to show the other child intervening and using a better
choice of words to stop the bully, a choice of words that makes the
bully feel good and the victim feel good, and by the intervening
child stepping in, in the right way the child being bullied no longer
is affected by the mental state (he/she) would be in if the bullying
continued.(The mental state would involve things like losing
confidence, it can cause a high risk of depression as a young adult,
low self-esteem, increased risk for suicideand poor school
performance.)

My target audience is teenagers between the ages of 14-19 and the

video will target bullying for both males and females of this age
range, this video will be focused on the younger ages so one
scenario will focus on 14 year olds and the other will focus on 15-
16 year olds and how the bullying can be different.

This whole video would take place at lunch time because in my

primary research i made a survey and in this survey i asked
questions like have they ever been bullied and how have they
changed since overcoming the bullying and with this i learned
things like they gained self-esteem and learned to choose better
friends, and i also asked things like if they feel safe going to and
from school and even if they feel safe at school and most people
don’t always feel safe at school and going to and from it as well.
Here are the results:
These results will be used to allow me to make scenes that are accurate
to where bullying has taken place for a large sum of people, which
makes the video that much more believable and relatable.
I also found somes secondary sources that i used to learn about the
problems people can get from bullying, why they do it and how people
change after the bullying has occurred here are the links:

Restrictions
The only restrictions that i know of would be age restriction on
somewhere like youtube because it talks about serious topic, we would
also need to take into account how many people from this demographic
will watch the video, so because of this as an extra precaution we can
have the video be played on tv during anti bullying week and can be
shown to children at their schools during form time to ensure that the
video is seen by the target audience.
