American artist Joseph Kingma is a concert pianist, chamber


musician, and pedagogue. Recognized for both the unique beauty of
his sound and the emotional intensity of his performances, he has
won awards in several international competitions, including first prize at the American Liszt
Society’s 2017 Franz Liszt International Piano Competition. He has also appeared as a semi-
finalist and/or won awards in the New Orleans International Piano Competition, the Cincinnati
World Piano Competition, the Sorantin Young Artist Interantional Competition, and the Concert
Artist Guild Competition.

As a concerto soloist, he has appeared with the Monroe Symphony, Manassas Symphony,
Illinois Valley Symphony, Clear Lake Symphony, Brazos Chamber Orchestra, and Spring Hill
Orchestra, among others. He maintains an active schedule as a recitalist and has performed on
the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series, the Good Shepherd International Concert Series,
Coastal Carolina University’s Piano Series, and the Dorothy MacKenzie Price Piano Series, to
name a few. An avid collaborator, he is a guest artist for the Palm Beach Chamber Music
Festival. Additionally, his performances have been broadcast on Chicago’s 98.7-WFMT.

Joseph joined the faculty of Palm Beach Atlantic University as Assistant Professor of Piano and
Coordinator of the Keyboard Division in 2018 where he teaches piano performance, pedagogy,
and literature. He enjoys teaching masterclasses for pre-college and college students and has
been invited to teach and perform at the Pensacola MTA, Wheaton College Conservatory of
Music, William Carey University, University of North Alabama, and University of Toledo.
Additionally, he teaches select advanced students through the PBA preperatory department.

Joseph graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with his DMA, where he studied with
Anton Nel. Previously, he earned his BM and MM at Rice University under the tutelage of
Robert Roux. He has participated in masterclasses and coachings with Norman Krieger, Tali
Morgulis, Sandra Wright Shen, Alan Chow, Craig Nies, and Jon Kimura Parker. His earlier
teachers include Aviram Reichert, Philip Pletcher, and Elena Arseniev. His website is
