May kalayaan ang taong gawin ang nais niya. Malayang magsalita o magpahayag ng kanyang nararamdaman,
pumili ng mga kaibigan at magmahal. Malaya sa lahat ng bagay basta’t walang nilalabag na batas at walang
naaapakang tao. Subalit ang kalayaang ito ay madalas hindi nabibigyang-importansya at hindi napapraktis ng
mga tao. Ito ay sa kadahilanang nankakulong tayo sa istandard ng lipunan sa kung ano ang dapat at hindi
dapat ikilos ng isang indibidwal; kung ano ang tama at mali. Ang mga istandard na ito ay tinatawag na norms.

Statement of the Problem (as far as you are aware of, what is the gap of knowledge in your research interest based on
readings/existing literatures? Why does this research need to be conducted?

In accordance with TESDA’s mandate to develop a quality and employable workforce, it is a challenge to
provide programs that will adhere to standard of quality, technical education and skills development.
Trainings require qualified teacher and developed curriculum and modules to deliver such standards. In this
sense, curriculum design and implementation evaluation must be a determining factor to consider the success
and effectiveness of such programs. In the past, relevant studies on the use of the English language were done
in the BPO industry, specifically on Call Centers. However, few have placed emphasis on the curriculum
development and implementation of the trainings conducted to mold Call Center Agents (CCA) and Customer
Service Representatives (CSR). TESDA saw the influx of these BPO company and their need for employees who
will live up to their standards. Thus, TESDA developed these training as a gateway to provide and secure
employment for Filipinos who would be interested. However, as what the researchers have noticed, few
Filipinos dreaming of working in the BPO industry as Call Center Agents rely mostly on their own skills rather
than taking up such training courses to develop what they already have.

Evaluating and, consequently, improving the curriculum design and implementation of these training courses
would perhaps result to an increase the quality and success of these training products and workforce. Further,
conducting a survey and evaluation of the curriculum design and implementation of these trainings and

programs on a locale reachable for to the people in Region X or, even, in Lanao del Norte, could help in
bringing these trainings and programs in Iligan City and perhaps help in the employment of people. This study
could also provide several opportunities for future studies on English language pedagogy and English language
curriculum development.

Objectives of the Study (What does the study hope to achieve? Give at least three).

This study aims to survey and evaluate the language curriculum design and implementation of TESDA’s Call
Center Training Courses as taught in three delivering private institutions in Cagayan de Oro City. Further, to
take such action, these research questions are aimed to be answered:
1. What are the Call Center Training Courses taught in the three delibering private institutions in Cagayan
de Oro City an how are they implemented?
2. What is the success rate of these courses in relation to job attainment and employment o f trainees?
3. What are the factors affecting and contributing to the success and effectiveness of these training
courses?
4. What possible alterations and modifications could be made to improve the curriculum design and
implementation of these Call Center Training and Courses?

Research Locale and Respondents (Where will the study be conducted? Who will be the target respondents?)

The study will be conducted in the three private school institutions in Cagayan de Oro City who is currently
offering Finishing Courses for Call Center Agents NC II. There are actually four accredited private school
institutions that are offering these training courses in Cagayan de Oro City. But, the researcher chose the
following school which offers the same training courses: (1) Asian College for Science and Technology, 4/F BSP
Green Tower Bldg. A. Veles cor. Luna St., Cagayan de Oro City; (2) Cagayan de Oro – Bugo Schools of Arts and
Trades, Bugo Cagayan de Oro City; and (3) Capitol Univerisity, Corrales Ave., Cagayan de Oro City.

Literature Review: (What literature do you intend to review and why? Five for MA/MS students and at
least 10 for PhD/Doctorate students)

Ang pag-aaral ni Agbayani (2014), nilalayon sa kanyang pag-aaral na maitala, maisalin, masuri at mapreserba
ang epiko ng mga Mansaka, si Manggob. Ginamit niya sa kanyang pag-aaral ang disenyong kwalitatibo at
pamamaraang indehinus. Nakalap ni Agbayani (2014) ang isang episodyo ng epikong Manggob ng mga
Mansaka mula kay Tanasyo Barabag sa Sitio Taytayan, Brgy. Andap, New Bataan, Compostela Valley. Lumaba
sa kanyang pag-aaral na pinapaksa ng epiko ang pakikipagsapalaran at mga pangyayari sa paglalakbay ng
pangunahing tauhan na si Manggob sa iba’t ibang lugar. Tinalakay ng kuwento ang sanhi ng paglisan ni
Manggob sa lupang sinilangan, ang kanyang pakikidigma, pagiging bagani, pag-aasawa at muling pagbabalik sa
Mapandan. Tinalakay rin ang ugnayan ng magkakapatid at mga kapamilya nila. Batay sa mga ginawang
panuntunan ng mga iskolar tungol sa epiko, napatunayan na isang ethno-epic ang Manggob. Taglay nito ang
sinaunang tradisyon na umiinog sa di-pangkaraniwang pangyayari o sa bayani at kanyang kabayanihan at
nararapat na may buhay na paniniwala sa mga nasabing tradisyon at sa mga nilalaman ng epiko.

Ayon kay Willian Thoms (nasa Hufana et,al, 2009), ang poklor ay mga kaugalian, paniniwala, obserbasyon, mga
awitin, salawikain atbp. noong unang panahon. Katulad ng epiko ang mga kwentong-bayan rin ay isang
panitikang kadalasang sinasalita o nasa paraang paoral. Sa pag-aaral nina Gomez, et.al (2013), tinangkang
suriin ang at likumin ng mga awiting-bayan ng Banisilan, Hilagang Cotabato bilang larawan ng katangian at
kaugaliang Ilonggo. Ginamit sa pag-aaral ang diskriptibong pamamaraan sa uring interbyu, pagmamasid at
analisis. Ayon sa kanila, malaki ang gamit ng internet upang makuha ang mga datos na tumulong sa pagsuri at
pag-analisa sa uri ng pamumuhay at kaugalian ng mga tao sa loob ng lipunang pinag-aralan. Lumabas sa
kanilang pag-aaral na sa apat na barangay ng Banisilan, Hilagang Cotabato ay nakalap ang apatnapu’t
dalawang (42) awiting-bayan ang mga mananaliksik. Bawat isa sa apatnapu’t dalawang (42) awiting-bayan na
nakalap ay kakikitaan ng mga paksang maaaring hayagang makikita sa mga liriko ng awiting o nakatago sa mga
simbolong ipinapakita nito gaya ng baabeng tuluyang iniwang nga minamahal, labis ang kalungkulang dulot ng
pag-iisa, panliligaw at marami pang iba. Kaugnay rin nito ang pag-aaral ni Estillore (2000), nilalayon nito ng
mapahalagahan ang mga epiko ng Pilipinas hindi lamang isang panitikan kung hindi basehan ng kultura, mores,
folkways, at kasaysayan ng Subanen bilang bahagi ng lipunan ng mga Filipino. Lumabas sa kanyang pag-aaral
na ang hospitality, amor propio, strong sense of kapatiran, non-rationalism at willingness to serve parents
and humanity ang mga katangian ng mga Pilipinong nailarawan sa epikong “Ag Tubig Nog Keboklagan”. Ang
pag-aaral ng mga epiko at ang mga kaugalian nito ay pinaniniwalaang mahalaga at napapanahon dahil ang
epikong ito ay maaaring magsisilbing halimbawa ng mga magagandang asal. Halos magkatulad din ito
kasaluyang pag-aaral na tukuyin ang mga kaugalian ngunit ang pinagkaiba nito, sa kasalukuyang pag-aaral
tanging ang valyung kutural lamang na sinasalamin ng epikong Gambong ang susuriin. Ang mga katangiang
makikita ay hindi dapat tinataglay ng iba pang malalapit na pangkat etniko.

Ang libro ni Eugenio Damiana (2001), nililikom, sinasalin at ipinublisa ang mga epiko sa Pilipinas upang gamitin
sa pagtuturo. Inilahad dito ang iba’t ibang pamantayan upang maitangahl bilang isang epiko ang tula. Sa
dalawampung epiko sa Pilipinas na natala, tanging dalawa lamang sa mga ito ay mula sa mga Kristiyano ang
iba ay nagmula sa labas ng konspeto ng mga Kristiyanon. Ang Lam-ang ng mga Iloko at ang Ibalon ng mga
Bikolano ang naibilang sa mga epiko ng mga Kristyano. Ang Hudhud at Alim ng mga Ifugao, Ulalim ng mga
Kalinga, Lumanidaw ng mga Gaddang ang mula sa Luzon. Mula sa Kabisayaan ang Hinilawod ng Gitnang Panay
at Kudawan ng Palawan. Sa Mindanao, naitala ang The Maiden of the Buhong Sky, Tuwaang, Si Agyu,
Tulelangan, Darangen, Guman of Dumalinao, Ag Tubig Nog Keboklagan, Keg Sumba Neg Sandayo at Tudbulul.
Naglahad siya ng mga krayterya tungkol sa epiko. Una, Epic Singing and Singers, sa iba’t ibang pangkat etniko
sa Pilipinas, ginagamit ang epiko sa mga mahahalagang okasyon ng nayon. Kadalasan, nagsisilbi itong pang-
aliw sa mga bisita. Ngunit, ang pinakapangunahing layuni nito kung bakit kinakanta ay upang ipakita o iparinig
sa madla ang mga kabayanihang ginawa ng kanilang mga ninuno. Ang mang-aawit sa epiko ay maaaring babae
o lalaki. Dapat nalalaman ito mula sa kanilang mga magulang o mga kamag-anak. Pangalawa, Adventures of
the Hero, ang epiko ay isang pagsasalaysay ng paglalakbay ng mga bagani. Sa Pilipinas, nahahati sa dalawang
uri ang epiko – ang epikong pagromansa. Sa epikong pangromansa, ito’y pumapaksa sa pagmamahalan,
panunuyo ng lalake sa babae o ang paghahanap ng mapapangasawa. Ang ikalawang uri ay ang paglalakbay
upang mapagsilbihan ang pamilya at ang mga nasasakupan. Sa katunayan ang epiko ay nakikitaan ng
paglalakbay at pangromansa. Pangatlo, The Epic Hero, ang mga bayani sa epiko ay malalakas, matatapang,
malalakas ang loob, hindi mapakali, adventurous spirit, determinadong makuha ang nais. Kadalasan sa mga
bayani ng epiko ay ipinanganak na kakaiba o hindi ordinardyo. Sa kasalukuyang pag-aaral, dahil bago pa
natuklasan ang epikong Gambong ng mga Mandaya, kinakailangan pa itong dumaan sa mga pamantayan
upang masasabing ito ay isang epiko. Katulad ng pag-aaral nina Ang pag-aaral ni Cortez, et.al (2016),
tinatangka ng kanilang pag-aaral na matukoy kung nagtataglay ng katangian ng pagiging epiko ang mga salin
ng epikong “Biag Ti Lam-ang” batay sa mga elementong inilahad ni Thomas Drake. Ang mga saling kanilang
nais imbestigahan ay ang mga isinagawa nina Angel A. Acasio, Angelito L. Santos at Amado M. Yuson.

Ang cultural relativism maging teorya ng gagawing pag-aaral. Sa website na Chegg Study, sinabing nagsimula
ang konsepto ng cultural relativism sa mga likha ni Franz Boas noong ika-20 siglo. Ang cultural relativism ay
isang prinsipyong tumataguyod sa mga paniniwala, kaugalian, at mga ritwal sa isang kultura mula sa isang
pananaw ng isang pangkat. Sumang-ayon naman dito ang artikulong Cultural Relativism: Truth is Relative na
sinabing;

Cultural Relativism is the view that no culture is superior to any other culture when
comparing system of morality, law, politics, etc. It’s the philosophical notion that all
cultural beliefs are equally valid and that truth itself is relative, depending on the
cultural environment. Those who hold to cultural relativism hold that all religious,
ethical, aesthetic and political beliefs are completely relative to the individual within
a cultural identity. Relativism often includes moral relativism (ethics depend on a
social construct), situational relativism (right or wrong is based on the particular
situation, and cognate relativism (truth itself has no objective and standard).

Malaki ang tulong ng cultural relativism upang lubusang maiintindihan ang konsepto na ang bawat kaugalian
ng pangkat etniko at iba-iba at walang nakalalamang. Sa pananaw na ito, mapahahalagahan ang kaugalian na
pumapaloob sa epiko ng mga Manday – Si Gambong.
Proposed Methods/Procedures (This answers the question: How will you conduct the study?)

The researcher will visit each school that offers the same Call Center Training Course. The researcher will ask
permission to the administration and management or depart of the school to conduct a research on these
courses. The researcher will also ask TESDA Region X for approval and assistance.

The researcher will conduct a curriculum evaluation of the curriculum design of these training courses. The
researcher will then immerse herself in the implementations of these courses. Further, the researcher will try
to communicate with the trainees who have gone through the said trainings and Call Center Companies who
have admitted employees from these institutions. The researcher will eventually create a report on the
sauces’ rate of these training courses in relation to job attainment and employment, and suggest possible
alterations and modifications to the existing curriculum design and implementation of the training course,
specifically, Finishing Courses for Call Center Agents NC II.
