Answer these questions. Remember to be brief and, wherever possible, keep your responses to a maximum of 4-5
sentences.

1. What is influencer marketing?

2. What are the advantages and disadvantages of influencer marketing?

3. Why is influencer marketing problematic?

4. How is influencer marketing regulated? (according to the article)

5. What is your opinion of influencer marketing, both as a customer and a [potential or actual] business owner?

EXTRA CREDIT: Make a funny cat meme about international marketing and share it with the group over MS
Teams. You can do this task only after you have finished all the other tasks from the book unit.

1. Influence marketing is a form of social media marketing that includes recommendations and product
placement from famous people social net pages. Influencer marketing allows brand owners to market
their products to a wide audience for relatively little cost.

2. On the one hand, influence marketing reduces company’s advertising, increases customer trust, covers
the necessary audience of potential buyers and improves the reputation of both the influencer and the
company.

On other hand, wrong choice of an influencer with a dubious reputation and inappropriate sphere of
influence, a company can worsen its position in the market. Sometimes the influencer lies to his audience
that can be good for the company that wants to sell the product and the influencer to get money for
advertising, but bad for buyers who believed and bought a low-quality product.

3. One of the main problems of influencer marketing that is not easy to post an advertisement on social
media and don’t break any rule that settled to protect buyers from harmful marketing.

4. Marketing influence should be strictly regulated by the rules so as not to mislead the buyer. In many
jurisdictions, the number one rule when it comes to influencer marketing is disclosure. For example, the
US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has issued guidelines which require parties to clearly and
conspicuously disclose a brand relationship when promoting products on social media.

5. As customer, I have a normal attitude towards influencer marketing, I think that it sometimes promotes
really high-quality products. However, I should be selective about the offers of sellers in social networks
that advertise a not-so-well-known product of some company.

As potential business owner, in my point of view it is an effective form of marketing that allows you to
reduce an advertisement cost, promote your product and improve your reputation as company in the
same time.
