Ten Commandments of Computer Ethics

This document contains two sets of guidelines for computer and internet ethics. The first set lists 10 "commandments" that instruct users to not harm others, interfere with their work, snoop in their files, steal, bear false witness, use unpurchased software, use others' resources without authorization, take others' intellectual output, consider social consequences of programs, and respect others. The second set lists 10 "essential rules of netiquette" that advise users to remember the human on the other end, review messages before sending, act legally and ethically, help newcomers, share knowledge, respect others, be sensitive to emotions and cultures, control arguments, forgive mistakes, and value others' time.
