Six Sigma is a process improvement methodology that focuses on reducing variability in processes by eliminating defects or failures in delivering products or services to customers. The goal of Six Sigma is to have 3.4 defects per million opportunities. It uses statistical tools to characterize and study processes. There are six levels of sigma, with Six Sigma being the highest level with less than 3.4 defects per million opportunities. Six Sigma was developed based on prior quality management theories like Total Quality Management and Statistical Process Control. It follows a five-stage process of define, measure, analyze, improve, and control.

Six Sigma quality management

Six Sigma is a process improvement methodology, focused on reducing the variability of

the same, getting reduce or eliminate defects or failures in delivery of a product or service
to the customer. 6 Sigma's goal is to reach a maximum of 3.4 defects per million events or
opportunities (DPMO), meaning any default event that a product or service fails to meet
the requirements of cliente.1
Six Sigma uses statistical tools for the characterization and study of processes, hence the
name of the tool, since sigma is the standard deviation gives an idea of the variability in a
process and the goal of Six Sigma is to reduce so that this process is always within the
limits set by customer requirements.
Get 3.4 defects in a million opportunities is a pretty ambitious but achievable goal. You can
sort the efficiency of a process based on their level of sigma:

1sigma = 690,000 DPMO = 31% efficiency

2sigma = 308,538 DPMO = 69% efficiency
3sigma = 66,807 DPMO = 93.3% efficiency
4sigma DPMO = 6210 = 99.38% efficiency
5sigma = 233 DPMO = 99.977% efficiency
6sigma = 3.4 DPMO = 99.99966% efficiency

Six sigma is an evolution of the theories most successful quality developed after World
War II. Especially direct precursor can be considered:

TQM, Total Quality Management or Total Quality System

SPC, Statistical Process Control and Statistical Process Control

It also incorporates many elements of Deming PDCA cycle.

The Six Sigma process (six sigma) is characterized by five key stages:

 Define the problem or defect

 Measure and collect data
 analyzing Data
 improve
 control

1.- What is the definition of Six Sigma quality management?

Six Sigma is a process improvement methodology, focused on reducing the variability of

the same, getting reduce or eliminate defects or failures in delivery of a product or service
to the customer.

2.- Why it is important to reduce defects or failures of a product or service?

It is important to reduce defects in products or services that we offer in this way, we

increase productivity, the acceptance of our product or service and increased sales.

3.- How many levels has the tool or six sigma management system?
The Six Sigma management tool has six levels

4.- Name the levels of six sigma?

1sigma = 690,000 DPMO = 31% efficiency

2sigma = 308,538 DPMO = 69% efficiency
3sigma = 66,807 DPMO = 93.3% efficiency
4sigma DPMO = 6210 = 99.38% efficiency
5sigma = 233 DPMO = 99.977% efficiency
6sigma = 3.4 DPMO = 99.99966% efficiency

5.-Lost Username precursor of theories of Six Sigma?

One of the theories was TQM, Total Quality Management or Total Quality System

6.-How many stages has Six Sigma?

Six Sigma has five stages.

7.- What are the stages of sigma sis?

The stages are:

 Define the problem or defect

 Measure and collect data
 analyzing Data
 improve
 control

8.-What tool supports six sigma?

Six Sigma is based on statistical.

9.- What does it measure the Six Sigma method?

The six sigma method measures the productive efficiency.

10.-How much is the minimum of defects in a million who is six sigma allows?

The minimum of defects in a batch of one million that is 3.4 Six Sigma allows.
