XCELERATOR MOTORSPORTS
EVENT:
International Formula-1 Racing committee is planning to organise an international level
Formula 1 racing event in December 2020. The flagship event is planned to be held in
different race circuits across the world. The governing body is planning to conduct 12 races
round the calendar year. Many prominent players like Mercedes, Ferrari, Porsche, McLaren
etc. are planning to take part in this championship.
INDIA IN EVENT:
India is taking part in this racing event for the first time with its National team known as
Force India.
Force India has given contract to a new motorsports company, Xcelerators Motorsports to
build a F1 racing car for Force India. They are expecting to get their vehicle on track by
October so that they can get enough practice time with the car and can improve their
performance.
XCELERATOR MOTORSPORTS:
Xcelerator Motorsports have a proven track record of manufacturing go-karts, sports cars and
F1 racing cars. There are still 8 months to go for the first race, which is planned to be held in
Adelaide, Australia and India.
Accordingly, Xcelerators has given a table which lists the activities and the required time to
complete them. After completion the car will go through various tests like brake test,
acceleration test, endurance test, etc to prove its performance, and also drivers will get the
first-hand experience of the car they will eventually drive.
Project:
Xcelerator Motorsports have decided to form a team and then start the project as soon as
possible. The various activities company has decided to perform is represented in the network
diagram:

Xcelerator Motorsports have conducted a research with its professional manufacturing team
to schedule the activities and complete them in minimum possible time. Based on this the
company divided the team into various departments:
1. Procurement department
2. Design team
3. Chassis department
4. Power train department
5. Brakes department
6. Steering department
7. Aesthetics department
These departments are responsible for carrying out various activities listed in Exhibit 1.

Critical path is the sequence of project network activities which add up to the longest overall
duration, regardless if that longest duration has float or not. This determines the shortest time
possible to complete the project.
Activities in Critical path are the critical activities, any delay in the critical activities leads to
delay in the completion of project as well.
