Waiver for Visual Acuity

Upload Requirement

Candidates applying through the online Application Portal that do not have a current Visual Acuity ready for
upload may use this waiver to temporarily satisfy the requirements needed to complete their online
application. To use this waiver, please follow the steps outlined below.

1. Click on the link to the waiver.


2. Download and save the waiver to your computer
3. On the Uploads page of your online application, click on the “Choose File” button.
4. Select the waiver that you saved to your computer.
5. Click on the attach button to upload the waiver.

This waiver is ONLY intended to allow candidates to move through the online application process.
Candidates will still be required to submit a valid Visual Acuity form to AWS after they complete
their online application.

The Visual Acuity form must be sent to the AWS Certification Department prior to your exam, or no later
than 60 days after your CAWI/CWI/SCWI/CRI certification exam date. Applicants who have not fulfilled all
requirements after the certification exam date shall have test scores and application voided, and may be in
jeopardy of forfeiting application fees. The Visual Acuity form may be sent via fax, email, or mail to the
American Welding Society.
