Profile:
I completed my education up to Ph.D. (Arabic) from A.M.U., and joined the Department of Arabic, A.M.U. as
Lecturer in 1986; presently serving as Professor.

I have taught / teaching Pre-Islamic Arabic Poetry, Modern Arabic Courses including Mahjar Literature,
Translation, Literary Criticism, and Research Methodology. Indo-Arabic Literature is also my area of interest.

I have contributed research papers related to my subject in three languages- Arabic, Urdu and English,
published in the reputed Journals of India and abroad. I have also contributed articles in the “Project of History
of Indian Science, Philosophy and Culture” (PHISPC), vol. VII, part -5 “Development of Islamic Religion and
Philosophy in India, N Delhi 2009.

I have contributed several books in my subject and area of interest as well as translated several books.
Especially, I would like to mention that for the first time I wrote a book in Arabic on the Life and Thoughts of
the Founder of the University Sir Syed Ahmad Khan and translated his selected essays into Arabic in 2
volumes. I have also translated A.M.U. Tarana into Arabic.

Sir Syed Ahmad Khan (1817-1889 A.D.), is considered to be one of the revolutionary and
dynamic personalities of modern India. He was a visionary thinker, a gigantic intellectual, a
sincere educationist, a realist and practical reformer, a painstaking diligent penman and a
distinguished architect of the time, who advocated the importance and significance of modern
education. It was his farsightedness and extraordinary vision that has given rise to the movement
known as “Aligarh Movement “and great institution “Aligarh Muslim University”.
His great personality is studied and his views are examined in Urdu and English languages
thoroughly and almost each and every aspect concerning his meditative educational reform and
coherent literary services are reviewed in these two languages. But for, whatever the cause may
be, Arab World was not fully aware of his true picture, in addition to his distorted pictures
 portrayed by some dissenting opinions were generally accepted, with the exception of some
positive views.

(1) The book “Syed Ahmad Khan – Hayatuhu wa Afkaruhu”"‫" ﺳﯿّﺪ أﺣﻤﺪ ﺧﺎن ـ ﺣﯿﺎﺗﮫ و أﻓﻜﺎره‬
is the first authentic and documented illustration of the genius personality of Sir Syed Ahmad
Khan, in Arabic language. It presents Syed Ahmad Khan in true perspective. As a reformer,
penman, thinker, educationist, and distinguished personality of the time etc.; each and every
aspect has been covered in this concise, comprehensive and systematic academic pursuit.
This work was first published in 2003, by Sir Syed Academy, A.M.U., Aligarh. Its second revised
edition has been published in 2011.

(2) For the same purpose the Arabic translation of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan’s selected writings and
essays such as ‘Muslim Reformer’, ‘Nature’, ‘Naturalist’,’ Religious thoughts in Ancient and
Modern Age’, ‘Impact of Time on Religion’, Love of Faith and Love of Humanity’, ‘Rights of
Women’, ‘A Parable – Tale of a goodly but ignorant and a worldly and wise man’, ‘Countrymen
and Progress in Education’, ‘Oriental Sciences and Arts’, ‘National Harmony’, ‘Freedom of
Expression’, ‘Sympathy’, ‘Hope’, ‘ ‘, ‘Understanding or Capacity to distinguish between good
and evil’, ‘Mirage of Life’, ‘Self Help’, ‘bigotry’, ‘Excellence’, ‘Reverence’, ‘Hypocrisy’,
‘Flattery’,’ Wrangling and disputation’,’Customs and Habits’,’Civilization’ and Pre-requisites of
Civilized behaviour’ was presented.
The first part of this translated work “Al -Muntaqa Min Maqalat Al-Sir Syed Ahmad Khan”
"‫ "اﻟﻤﻨﺘﻘﻰ ﻣﻦ ﻣﻘﺎﻻت )اﻟﺴﯿﺮ( ﺳﯿﺪ أﺣﻤﺪ ﺧﺎن‬was published in 2007 by Sir Syed Academy.

(3) The second part “Al-Mukhtar Min Maqalat Al-Sir syed Ahmad Khan”
‫( اﻟﻤﺨﺘﺎر ﻣﻦ ﻣﻘﺎﻻت )اﻟﺴﯿﺮ( ﺳﯿﺪّ أﺣﻤﺪ ﺧﺎن‬Arabic translation of Selected Essays of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan),
Pub.2011.

In this way, the long due debt of the Founder of the University on the department of Arabic,
A.M.U., Aligarh has been discharged by this worthless member. These humble efforts received
warm welcome and appreciation from the academic circles of the Arab World as well as
from the European Countries.
