Ox) INSTRUCTIONS FOR CONNECTION MU - G30 / 40 MU - G50/ 75 STAR-DELTA MOTOR CONTROLLER a RELAY SETTING: Set the relay Indicator on the dial to 0.6 times the rated line current of the motor since the relay carries only phase current. This ensures optimum protection under over load condition of motor. OVERLOAD TRIP RESET: The relay will trip in case of over load. The motor cannot be re-started until the relay has been reset. To reset the relay allow the bi-metals to cool sufficiently and then press the stop button fully. BACK-UPFUSES: Only H. R. C. type back-up fuses are recommended for proper protection of your thermal relay and installation from damage due to short circuit. To select the right fuse for your motor refer to the table of ratings. For heavy start motors the next higher rating fuses may be used. For suitable protection of the relay the fuse rating should not exceed that given on the relay label. SOLENOID COIL: Controllers are normally provided with coils which are rated for 415 volts or 380 voits 50Hz and are connected accordingly. Coils of other A.C. voltage ratings can also be made available on demand. Choice of proper coil, for the voltage made available at its terminals in the connected circuit, is essential for trouble free service. NOTE: 4. Check the coil voltage and relay range before . commissioning. 2. Referwiring diagram where necessary. OPERATION : Inastar-delta controller, the time delay before changing over from Star to Delta connection should be sufficient to allow the motor to come to its normal running speed. This period may be taken to be 10 seconds, but could be jess for lightly loaded motor and greater for a slow starting or heavily loaded motor. In the FULLY AUTOMATIC Star-delta starter, this delay can be adjusted by rotating the dial screw on the timer. This controller is provided with single Phasing Preventer. It protects the motor from over loading due to unbalanced voltage conditions like Phase asymmetry or Phase failure. It also protect against Phase reversal. Incase SPPR does not hold, interchange any of the two Phase wires. This SPPR has two modes of operation, choose proper mode as applicable. The SPPR has LED on top, which indicates healthy position when ON. TABLE OF RATINGS This table is merely for guidance in the selection of the correct relay scale and corresponding back-up fuse fating. It is better to check the full load rating on motor ED name plate and select relay scale and fuse rating accordingly. By-pass mode (As supplied from the factory). All the protection features, except the over | protection are disabled in this mode & the controller operates as a conventional star Delta Starter. | 2. Auto mode The controller will be automatically energized after the Supply Is available / restored. For the reasons of safety, there is an intentional delay of 30 seconds between power available & the controller / pump getting energized. In this mode in addition to the overload protection, the following protection features are enabled. * Phase sequence protection. ¢ Phase unbalance protection (50V). e Single phdsing protection. e Phase reversal protection. 3. Manual Mode: The controller will have to start manually through relay . green push button. All the protections as mentioned in auto mode are enabled. Agreen LED is provided on the SPPR (top left corner) to indicate all protections are enabled (other than over load protection) & the supply is healthy. For commissioning, proceed as under : A: By-pass mode . Ensure that the supply to the controller and the connections to the motor are correct as shown in the wiring diagram stuck on inner side of the door. Like a normal starter, the motor can be switched ON or OFF by pressing the Green & Red push button on the door. Ensure that the Switch is in ON position. Normally, the Red lamp and Green Lamp on the door should become ON. Indicating presence of incoming supply & the pump / motor is energized respectively. Incase of overload, the Green lamp will be turned OFF & the motor shall not run. B:AUTO mode Install as stated above. Please note 1. The motor can only be switched OFF by the Switch and not by the RED push button. The RED push button can only disconnect the motor (momentarily), tillitis pressed. 2. There is a 30 seconds intentional delay between availability of power and pump (motor) getting energized. The following indications shouid take place in normal conditions. - Red lamp should become ON indicating supply available. (Not necessarily healthy) - The Green lamp on the door should become ON after 30 seconds delay. - The Green LED on the SPPR should also become ON indicating that all the protection features are enabled & healthy. In case any of the protection features are activated, and the Green LED on the SPPR will blink and the Green Lamp on the door will go OFF, indicating supply is disconnected to the motor. However, incase of over load, the Green LED on the SPPR will not go OFF as SPPR doesn't sense over load, which is sensed separately by over load relay. CG. MANUAL Mode 1. The motor can be switched 'ON' and ‘OFF’ by green and red push button respectively. 2. There will not be any time delay. However, the indication of lamps and other protections will be enabled as in case of auto le. TROUBLE SHOOTING INSTRUCTIONS IN AUTO MODE PROBLEM NOTICED POSSIBLE REASONS a) Tripped due to over load (Relay) - Green LED on SPPR ON b) Tripped due to SPPR ~ Green LED on SPPR blinks 1) Single Phasing 2) Phase unbalance more than 50V 3) Wrong phase sequence 4) Supply frequence not correct ) Its possible that (a) & (b) both can occur together Energize with SPPR in Bypass mode 8) If the motor doesn't operate, it is due to overload, check ammeter reading & reset the relay. b) If the motor operates then, the tripping was due to SPPR. To correct, proceed as under 4. Ensure that all three phases have the right voltage. 2. Ensure the phase unb: doesn't excead 50 V. 3. Correct the phase sequence: by interchanging side. 4, Ensure right frequency for the supply (if DG set is used). Now change from By-pass to Auto mode & with this Green LED should become ON. Now energize the controller & the motor should start.
