ECOMAP

The ecomap is a visual diagram of the family unit in relation to other units or subsystem in the
community. The ecomap presents the nature of relationships among family members and between
families and community. The nature and quality of relationships and the direction of energy flow
between the family members and the subsystem are shown by different connecting lines. The ecomap
serves as a tool to organize and present information allowing the community health nurse to have a
more holistic and integrated perception of the family situation.
