BUSINESS PROPOSAL AND FEASIBILITY STUDY Coop
BUSINESS PROPOSAL AND FEASIBILITY STUDY Coop
In the light of indigenization, preceded by the fast track land reform, there is a gap in farming
equipment. With agriculture being a cyclic business, it is a good idea to hire equipment to use in
this critical business.
Mining is also a capital intensive business yet indigenization has made it accessible to ordinary
people who do not necessarily have a good starting point, hence the idea by our cooperative to
hire out farming and mining equipment to close this gap. This is a lucrative business as is shown
by this proposal.
Zimbabwe is among the major gold producers in the world. The country is believed to have very
large reserves yet is unable to mine to its full capacity.

JUSTIFICATION
As has been highlighted in the executive summary, there is unutilized capacity in the mining
industry. With the drive to fully exploit our reserves, a lucrative market for machinery in
Zimbabwe is available. Providing of machinery to these people levels the ground and makes
them competitive worldwide.
Bulawayo alone, is surrounded by farms and mines to its East, West, North and South and all this
is mainly new commercial farmers who do not as yet own necessary machinery.
The company’s main objective is to penetrate the whole of the Zimbabwean market and beyond.
This will be done to empower women in the sense of the directors of the company and also the
ones employed by the company.
In a country where Brahmans dominate the market, the company intends to concentrate on the
production of the Boran and Simmental which is a niche market in terms of its farming business
unit.
The business unit that deals with machinery hire is one that has hardly been ventured into
professionally locally. There are individuals who own things like tractors who just hire them out
when they are not using the tractors themselves. Our well thought out business will be
competitive in that there will be many incentives for our prospective clients when they deal with
us and there will be competitive rates along with many different types of machinery offering a
complete solution under one roof.
The cooperative intends to setup an office in the Bulawayo central business district and to
operate a virtual office that makes use of mobile and internet platforms.
FUTURE PLANS
The proposed company will take advantage of the rise in production through farming and
mining. Apart from the equipment hire business unit, the members of this cooperative are
involved in cattle fattening to fund their small business needs.
Machinery for hire will include tractors, combined harvesters, irrigation equipment, refining
dishes, detectors and compressors.
The cooperative is made up of educated and resourceful directors. Represented are professional
accountant, secretary, marketers, computer scientists and farmers. There are among us as well
educators that will make our workshops very effective. The cooperative is also made up of
members of high integrity and moral standing. This cooperative gives them the opportunity to
make use of their knowledge while uplifting their lives and those of their families while edifying
their nation through employment creation.
For now, the lack of a source of financial capital is a weakness that the directors hope to solve
through obtaining funding.
The agricultural sector and the mining sector are a fast growing area that the government intends
to grow further. This is an opportunity that the company intends to make full use of. Great strides
are being made in the economic stabilization agenda and this will have a positive bearing on our
cooperative. Zimbabwe also has opportunities to access European markets now that Zimbabwe is
open for business and sanctions are moments away from being withdrawn.
